A roguelike built around poker hands, with no fiddly math: just get your hand smaller than your opponent's—or empty it completely. Villagers cheat by stuffing cards into your hand, but your animal cardsharps cheat too. Eat cards, paint new ones, and rig the table your way.

About This Game

Forget boss health bars. You win by having fewer cards than your opponent—and if you manage to empty your hand entirely when you win, that's a perfect victory.

Build familiar poker-style hands such as Pairs, Three of a Kind, Full Houses, Straights, and Four of a Kind, each with its own tactical effect. A Straight can help keep you in the fight, a Four of a Kind can shut your opponent down, and certain combinations even let you dump unwanted cards straight into the other player's hand.

A match might end with one perfectly planned play—or become a tug-of-war as both sides desperately try to dump their cards. The rule is simple:

Fewer cards win.

Actually making that happen is another matter.

Choose from a cast of animal card sharks, each with a completely different way to bend the rules. Copy cards, change their ranks, manipulate what gets drawn, or twist your hand into combinations that should never have worked in the first place.

Every character is a seasoned player with a signature technique—or, to put it less politely, a signature way to cheat. As your run progresses, those tricks can be refined into even stronger forms.

Unfortunately, the locals cheat too. The animals of Zhangyu Village have learned exactly one thing about card games: having fewer cards is good. So naturally, they keep shoving their cards into your hand. After all, the more cards you have, the fewer cards they have. Perfectly logical.

Can you get rid of your cards faster than they can stuff theirs into your hand?

Want to learn a few Chinese idioms while playing cards?

You have come to exactly the wrong village.

Every strange event begins with a real Chinese idiom—and the villagers have somehow managed to misunderstand every single one.

Take an idiom meaning “make your guests feel at home.” In Zhangyu Village, that obviously means welcoming every guest warmly... and then immediately sending them straight back home.

Explore the village, get dragged into these absurd misunderstandings, and decide whether to help, interfere, or make things even worse.

The Chinese idioms are real. The explanations absolutely are not.

Journey through 4 acts, with 8 distinct maps to discover across different runs. Collect over a hundred relics and pocket-sized tricks that can reshape how you play, then combine them with character abilities, unusual effects, and poker hands to create your own build.

Choose your route across the map and challenge opponents with wildly different rules. Decide when to spend resources, when to take a risk, and when an apparently terrible hand might actually be exactly what you need.

Every run asks you to rethink your hand, your route, your resources, and your strategy—and gives Zhangyu Village another chance to put even more cards into your hand.
