You work nights at a returns desk. Customers lie, haggle, guilt-trip you and throw punches, and you decide what gets accepted. Save up for a flat, feed the cat, don't go into the warehouse after three. The last guy on this shift went missing. Everyone in town tells it differently

About This Game

Night shift clerk wanted

24/7 Night Returns. Five nights until the end of the month.

  • Duties: accept returns. Or don't.

  • Requirements: strong nerves, ability to hold a mop.

  • We offer: pay, tips, coffee (one mug for everyone) and a cat. The cat is in charge.

Please don't ask about the previous clerk.

The customer is always right. Just ask him.

They come in one at a time, each with a box and a story. Sixty people over five nights, and hardly any of them are okay. They lie, haggle, slip you bribes, guilt-trip you and start fights. In the morning they review you online. The next night they come back to tell you that you were wrong.

Open the box, check the receipt against the catalog, accept or reject. Get it wrong and it comes out of your pay. Say no, and the customer may disagree. With his fists.

You can hit customers. Not the boss.

Almost anything that isn't nailed down can be picked up and thrown at someone. The blood won't mop itself up afterwards, but there is a mop. Don't hit the boss. Or the police.

The computer on the desk is older than you

Mail, a bank, an online shop, a flat listings site, a music player and Minesweeper. Mostly Minesweeper.

Home isn't any calmer

In the morning you go home to sleep. Your roommate Toby has put everything into his startup: he sells air in jars. Your landlord, Mr Krump, says air isn't a product. Or maybe it is, he'll think about it. Mum calls at the worst possible moment. In the building's group chat you type your own replies, and the neighbours answer. Sometimes they even make sense.

A flat of your own. Someday.

The goal is simple: save up for a place of your own and move out. You can blow the money on food, coffee and junk for your desk, or you can save. What happens if you're short at the end of the month, you'll find out.

Don't go into the warehouse after three

The guy who worked here before you left a sheet of rules in the break room. Every night there's one more line on it.

  • Feed the cat. She sees things before you do.

  • If someone knocks on the window: go, look, walk away. Don't open it.

  • If there are more boxes than you brought, don't count them.

Then he went missing. His face is on posters all over town, and everyone has a different story about where he went.

The first nights are funny. Then it gets quiet. No jump scares. One night you just notice that you're not alone here.

And also

  • Several endings. Your choices will come back to you.

  • Boxy, the warehouse cat. Non-refundable. We tried.

  • The "Endless shift" mode unlocks after any ending.

Everything can be returned.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Fist fights with customers (you can start them, and so can they), thrown objects and some blood that you mop up afterwards. Mild language, no strong profanity. Unsettling themes: a missing person and strange events at night. No jump scares.
