What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want players to help shape Balance Of Death through hands-on multiplayer feedback. Early Access will let us test combat, survival systems, and the interaction between humans, vampires, and werewolves with a wider community while we continue developing the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently estimate one to two years. That estimate may change as we respond to player feedback and learn what the game needs.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan to add 10 more playable classes. We plan to expand and refine the survival systems, NPC interactions, and ways player decisions affect the world. We also plan to explore self-hosted and offline play for solo players and groups of friends. These are development goals, and their scope and timing may change.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current development version contains the core online survival horror experience, with asymmetrical PvP as its main gameplay loop and PvE elements. Players can choose human, vampire, or werewolf roles, use their different abilities, and manage survival resources through a day and night cycle. Character lives persist between sessions, and death ends that character's life. Balance, performance, and content are still in development. Online play requires a Steam account and an internet connection.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price when the game leaves Early Access. We will share details with the community before that change.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to gather player feedback through our Discord community and hold community play sessions to test specific parts of the game. We want that feedback to help guide improvements to combat, survival systems, balance, and performance as development continues.”

About This Game

Live your role. Shape the world's history.

Balance Of Death is a third-person dark fantasy multiplayer survival horror RPG where humans, vampires, and werewolves fight to stay alive. Each role changes how you move, fight, and survive. Winning an encounter matters, but so does having enough left to survive the next one.

Build the lore future players inherit

Role-play through your choices, your relationships with NPCs, and the risks you take. Your deeds can become part of your world's local history, shaping the lore that future players discover through its inhabitants. Each life is a chance to add another chapter to that shared story.

Command as a human

Lead a squad of soldiers and enter the fight with your own melee weapons. Give orders, position your force, and decide when to advance or hold your ground. Your squad gives you a different way to face the supernatural threats around you.

Hunt as a vampire

Feed to replenish your blood, see through the darkness, and crawl across walls and ceilings. Use the environment to approach your prey, then plan your next move around the shared day and night cycle. Sunlight makes every exposed journey more dangerous.

Transform as a werewolf

Shift between human and beast forms. Use human equipment in one form and close-range attacks and grappling abilities in the other. Manage your survival resources and choose when to unleash the wolf.

Make each life count

Face other players with different abilities and priorities in an online world with PvP at the center and PvE elements alongside it. Decide when a fight is worth the risk and when survival means pulling back.

Your character's life persists between sessions, including equipment and survival resources. Death permanently ends that life. Begin again with a new character, choose your role, and take what you learned into your next attempt.

Balance Of Death is being prepared for Early Access. Combat balance, performance, and content are still in development. A Steam account and an internet connection are required for online play.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI is used during gameplay only for live NPC interactions: generating NPC dialogue and conversation summaries from player conversations and relevant in-game context using OpenAI. The game design is developer-authored. AI assistance was also used for some Steam store-page wording and to adapt the branding into app and shortcut icons.
