About This Demo

BORE is a survival horror game for 1–4 players. Play alone or work together online to operate a giant drilling machine. Explore four underground regions: Overgrown Caves, Crystal Caves, Lava Caves, and Deep Dark Caves. Collect minerals, relics, and other valuables. Your employer sets a required payment. Collect and sell enough valuables to pay it.

Work together at the machine's controls. Steer the drill, control its speed, watch its temperature, and load coolant cartridges. Use the cabin's map and instruments to guide teammates exploring the caves. The Core Recovery station lets you collect extra valuables from material cut by the drill. Automatic speed control helps you operate the machine when playing alone.

Stop drilling, open the door, and search the caves for valuables. Mine deposits with a pickaxe or explosives, and carry what you find back to the drill. Creatures can notice your footsteps, mining, and voice. Use lights and distractions to avoid some threats. Defend yourself against others with tools or stun devices. Different creatures need different tactics, and some cannot be killed.

The longer you stay underground, the more dangerous the caves become. Return before the cave collapses, bring your valuables inside the drilling machine, and close the door to keep pursuing creatures out. Decide whether to return to the surface and sell, or drill deeper to search for more valuable treasure. Equipment and valuables inside the machine stay aboard as you travel.

Sell your valuables at the surface depot. Use the money to make the required payment and buy supplies. Choose from 33 equipment and upgrade options at the shop. Buy lights, mining tools, radios, and implants that improve your abilities. Better drill bits unlock deeper regions. You can also bring back dead creatures to sell. Between trips, restock your supplies and feed or pet the depot cat.

• Online co-op for up to four players, with voice chat that depends on distance. Use walkie-talkies or the cabin speaker to reach players farther away.

• Operate physical levers, controls, and instruments inside the drilling machine. Manage drill speed, heat, and coolant while your crew works.

• Changing cave layouts across four regions. Try the Daily Dig and compete on leaderboards based on the value you sell, with separate groups for each crew size.

• 28 creature types with different behaviors. Some hunt by sound, some react to light, and some copy your crewmates' appearance or voices.

• 46 types of valuables to collect and sell, including eight from Core Recovery. Selling a new type adds information to your collection record. The required payment increases as you progress.

• Revive dying crewmates before time runs out. Recover dead crewmates' bodies and bring them back to the depot. If you die, you can watch the surviving players.

• Carry heavy valuables together, throw tools and objects, and drag bodies. Items and characters react to impacts, falls, and collisions.

• An interactive tutorial, training videos, controller support, customizable keyboard controls, sound captions, colorblind-friendly map markers, and a setting for players with a fear of swarming creatures.
