What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“National Transit is a living game that benefits from real player feedback. We're launching Early Access to build the game together with our community — your input will directly shape the transport systems, economic mechanics, and features we develop next. The core gameplay is complete, stable, and enjoyable, but there is much more we want to add.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months. However, we will only leave Early Access when we feel the game is truly complete — not on a fixed schedule.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is already a complete, playable game. The full release will push the transport simulation itself further:

- Deeper simulation realism — more faithful modeling of how traffic, capacity, and operations behave in the real world
- More transport types across both map layers
- International trade and transport — connecting your nation with the wider world, in a form we're still exploring
- A more sophisticated demand model — richer passenger and freight behavior that reacts to what you build
- A smoother experience overall — performance, polish, and quality-of-life improvements driven by community feedback”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is fully playable, with all core systems in place:

- Procedurally generated worlds with terrain, rivers, coastlines, and editable provinces
- Four transport modes on the national map: road, rail (standard and high-speed), waterway, and aviation
- City Map: enter any city to design streets and transit lines (metro, light rail, tram, bus), and navigate them door to door
- A full economic simulation: organic city growth, auto-generated companies and institutions, city policies, and national milestones
- Complete financial statements — income, balance sheet, annual reports, and loans
- A history timeline: revisit any past month or branch a new save from it
- Available in 11 languages”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will increase when we leave Early Access. Players who support us during Early Access will get the best price.
One purchase is all it takes: we have no plans to sell new features as paid DLC. Every update and every new system we build will be included in the base game, for everyone who owns it.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We actively monitor the Steam Discussion boards and respond to feedback. Major decisions about new features and systems will be shared with the community before development begins. We post development updates regularly in the Steam News section.”

About This Game

National Transit puts you in charge of a nation's entire transport infrastructure — from the first dirt road connecting two villages, to a rail network spanning your country, to international airports that transform your greatest cities.

Your goal is simple: build connections, grow your economy, raise your people's prosperity. The rest is up to you. It all starts with a freshly generated world — one nobody has ever seen before, and nobody ever will again.

Roll a New World
Set the dials — how mountainous, how wet, how scattered the coast — then let the world surprise you. You choose the broad strokes; the map decides the rest. Where the rivers run, where the natural harbors hide, which valley is begging for its first railway — none of it is revealed until the moment the world unfolds in front of you. Every new map is a fresh hand of cards: sometimes a mountain-locked inland nation, sometimes a long open coastline strewn with islands. Scout it like an explorer, find the place where your story begins — or roll again and see what the next world deals you.

Connect Your Cities
Place roads, railways (standard and high-speed), waterways, and air routes between cities of all sizes — from remote hamlets to bustling capitals. Terrain pushes back: rivers carve natural corridors, wide waters demand bridges or tunnels, and mountains make you choose between the long way around and the expensive way through. Every connection you build generates trade, moves people, and grows your economy.

Watch Your Economy Evolve
Transport infrastructure drives everything — trade, migration, and the growth of every city on the map. Enact city policies — special economic zones, free ports, university towns, stock exchanges — to steer each city's rise. Read it all in full financial statements, from monthly income to your nation's balance sheet.

Step Into Your Cities
Every city on the national map can be entered and shaped up close. Draw the streets yourself, lay out metro, light rail, tram, and bus lines, and watch districts fill in with buildings and the businesses that move in.
As your cities mature, logistics firms, financial institutions, and industrial conglomerates take root — and if you build well enough, world-class corporations and international organizations establish themselves in your largest metropolises and your capital. Then put your city to the test: pick any two doorsteps and navigate between them — on foot, by car, or riding the very transit lines you built, transfers and all. Watching a journey thread through your own metro map is the moment your city stops being a drawing and starts being a place.

Your Nation, Your Identity
Name your country. Choose its capital, its flag, its domain suffix. Draw and redraw your internal provinces as your nation grows. Every nation you build is uniquely yours — from its geography to its economy to the companies that bear your chosen name.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

World maps in National Transit are created with procedural (algorithmic) generation — not AI. Terrain, rivers, coastlines, and city placement are generated algorithmically at the start of each playthrough.

Generative AI is used in the following place(s):
• Some of the in-game icons/2D art — a portion are AI-generated; the rest are hand-drawn.

In-game text is written by hand; localisation into other languages was produced with the help of machine/AI translation.
