About This Game

a short story about a lovely evening

Arthur works twelve-hour shifts. He comes home to Elaine, five children, a table with seven chairs, and a jar of pills on the kitchen counter.

Take one every evening. That's all it takes. The house is warm, the kids laugh, the music box plays. A better world.

Skip one — and the house remembers something you don't.

ONE HOUSE. SEVEN NIGHTS. Each evening is a small, ordinary routine: say goodnight to the children, fix the light in the hallway, take out the trash, take your pill, sleep. Each night the routine bends a little further. Something is written on the wall at the end of the hall. A child asks you a question you don't understand. The rain outside has started to run red.

WHAT IT IS — a 2–3 hour narrative psychological-horror story · authentic PS1-era look · two endings and a verdict after both · slow-burn dread over jump scares · gamepad, cloud-ready saves, achievements (some hidden)

WHAT IT IS NOT — No combat. No inventory puzzles. No monster to run from — most of the time. This is a story about a family, and about what a person will swallow to keep a lovely evening lovely.

"They only ever made me happy. That's all I can remember."

Try the free demo — the first three evenings, up to the moment the street turns red.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Pre-Generated: Portions of the in-game dialogue and on-screen text were drafted with the assistance of an AI language model and then reviewed, edited and finalised by the developer. All artwork, textures, 3D scenes, music, sound and store/marketing images are hand-authored, procedurally generated by the game's own code, or licensed from human creators — no generative AI was used for any visual or audio content. The game does not generate any content with AI at runtime.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Better World is a short narrative psychological horror story. It deals with substance abuse (prescription pills), suicide, and harm to a family including children. These themes are described in dialogue and text; they are never shown on screen — no gore, no depicted violence, no nudity or sexual content. Blood appears only as stylised red rain and writing on walls. Some scenes contain flickering or strobing light. The game ends with an in-game message about substance-abuse support.
