Confederate Grand Campaign DLC

Fight the Petersburg Campaign from the Confederate perspective.

The Confederate Grand Campaign adds a complete 15-mission historical campaign to Civil War: Battle of Petersburg, following the struggle to defend Richmond and Petersburg from the summer of 1864 through the final battles of April 1865.

Command an increasingly hard-pressed Confederate army through major battles, cavalry raids, counterattacks, defensive stands, and fighting withdrawals. Resources are limited, replacements are precious, and preserving experienced formations can matter as much as taking the objective.

Your campaign begins with the defense of the approaches to Richmond and Petersburg and follows the Confederate struggle as Union forces steadily extend their siege lines and threaten the roads and railroads keeping Lee's army supplied.

A Different Kind of Campaign

The Confederate campaign is not simply a reversed version of the Union experience.

You will often fight with fewer resources, limited replacements, and little room for unnecessary losses. Some missions ask you to hold fortified positions. Others require aggressive counterattacks, delaying actions, cavalry operations, or organized withdrawals.

At the Beefsteak Raid, lead Confederate cavalry behind Union lines, seize the cattle herd, and escort it safely back through pursuing enemy forces.

At Fort Stedman, launch one of the Army of Northern Virginia's final major offensives.

And at Fort Gregg, victory is no longer about destroying the enemy. Your task is to hold long enough for Confederate forces to escape Petersburg.

Manage Your Army Between Battles

Return to Confederate headquarters between missions to prepare for the next operation.

• Preserve and rebuild historical formations

• Manage Confederate currency and increasingly scarce resources

• Replace battlefield losses

• Equip eligible formations with historically appropriate weapons

• Improve artillery when suitable equipment is available

• Track veteran formations across the campaign

• Manage rations and army supplies

• Make difficult choices about where limited resources are needed most

Historical formations appear only when appropriate to the operation. Returning regiments retain their campaign history, while units serving elsewhere remain unavailable until they return.

Historically Grounded Battlefields

Every Grand Campaign mission takes place on the full historical Petersburg map, with battlefields positioned around the roads, railroads, waterways, farms, forts, and defensive lines associated with the campaign.

Command historically inspired formations and experience the siege as it moves across the region, from the defenses around Petersburg and Richmond to the Weldon Railroad, Hatcher's Run, Five Forks, and the final evacuation of the city.

Owning the Confederate Grand Campaign also unlocks its official historical scenarios for Single Battle, allowing you to replay your favorite engagements without starting a new campaign.

Community-created Scenario Editor battles remain freely playable by all owners of the base game.
