What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to finish Rally Point together with players. The game is playable today, but it has a lot in it (90+ heroes, mechs and support cards) and we can't tune it all alone. We want real feedback on balance, bugs on lots of different setups, and what players want next. We're committed to keep working on it, keep listening, and see it through to a full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About six months is the plan.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is the same game with more in it. During Early Access we plan to improve the living campaign and add more heroes, mechs and support cards. We also plan balance changes, bug fixes, and improvements based on what players tell us. We'll share what's coming in Steam announcements as it gets decided.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Rally Point is playable now. The Early Access build has the lane-battle campaign (solo or co-op), online 1v1, 2v2 and free-for-all rooms, a ranked ladder, a map editor, 90+ heroes plus mechs and support cards, and 12 languages. Expect some rough edges: balance is still being tuned and a few bugs will slip through.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Probably. We plan to raise the price a bit when the full version launches, since there will be more in it by then. We haven't picked a number yet.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback decides what we fix and tune first. We capture feedback and bugs inside the game, read the Steam community hub and discussions, and keep an eye on what people say around the web. We also have a Discord as a central place to hang out, report problems and tell us what you'd like to see. We'll post updates in Steam announcements so you can see what changed because of your feedback.”

About This Game

Rally Point is a real-time strategy game where you play cards and your army does the fighting. Battles are a few minutes long and a campaign run takes a few hours.

You build a squad of 3 heroes, 3 mechs and 4 support cards out of more than 90 options. Supply refills over time, and the more control points you hold the faster it comes in. You can spend it on cheap units right away or save up for something big, like a Gunship to clear a point or a Nuke when a lane is going badly.

Units pick their own targets and fight on their own, so there's no micro. What you decide is where things go and when to commit. If a lane starts slipping you can re-rally a hero over to it. In solo battles you can hit HOLD at any time to stop the clock, look over the field and line up your next card. Each AI difficulty level has its own named commander, and beating that level unlocks them. After that you can hand them your side in any PvE battle and take control back whenever you want. In solo you can speed things up while they play.

Each campaign run starts with a draft and a new galaxy split between rival factions. Every faction has its own commander, and they don't sit still between your missions. They reinforce, counterattack your sectors and fight each other for ground. You can scout a mission to counter-pick what's coming, or take a blind fight for better upgrades. Play it solo or with a friend in co-op, and there's an Ironman mode where losses can remove units from your squad.

There's also the Frontier War, a seasonal war between the five factions. You pick a side and the battles you play count toward its push on a shared map, so if you beat a K'tharr commander in your campaign the K'tharr front gives a bit. Your own faction never shows up as an enemy in your games. Campaign, co-op, quick battles and ranked all count. Each season runs for a calendar month and the rewards are just cosmetic.

Battles play out across a range of biomes, from desert outposts and lava fields to asteroid rock. Outside the campaign you can host custom rooms for 1v1, 2v2 or a four-player free-for-all, mark a match as ranked to get on the leaderboard, and make your own maps in the map editor for campaign or custom games.
