About This Game

HEARTHWATCH is a roguelite tower defense about one fire and the eleven people asleep around it. Build towers, bond them into hybrids, and hold the line, even when the board tears open under you.

The map tears open

Mid-battle the ground splits and a new lane inks across the board, with enemies already walking it. You get a warning, a window to build, and Ember for the ground you lose.

Five towers. Six bonds.

Fire, water, stone, wind and the totem. Stand two different elements side by side and they bond into Steam, Magma, Wildfire, Mire, Storm or Sandstorm: the answer to enemies that shrug off a single element.

A run, not a level select

Pick your path through a branching campaign of battles, chests and gates, across ash, frost and ember lands. Every battle hands you a fresh purse of Ember for towers, and your run's deck grows as you go: you draw from it mid-battle, and the deeper you are, the rarer the cards.

Bosses that ask a question

The Ash Warden. The Frost Herald. The Ember-Mother. Each one turns its resistances around mid-fight and brings an escort, so the answer is never just more damage.

Eleven asleep at the fire

A narrator tells their story between battles: who keeps the fire, and what the Ashen were before the ash. A cat keeps watch with you and has opinions about your tower placement.
