Keyarium is a quiet desktop ant‑ecosystem game that keeps you company on Windows. Ants live on your desktop, automatically foraging, nibbling, carrying, hatching, and fighting. You just work, study, or browse the web as usual – your keyboard activity is converted into energy, which you can use to drop food, grow your colony, and gradually build your own miniature ecological world.

Detailed Introduction

Place a small ant nest in a corner of your desktop and watch it run by itself.

Keyarium runs as a transparent, always‑on‑top, mouse‑through desktop window. It never asks you to stare at the screen or interrupts your daily workflow. Keyboard input is converted into energy, and energy lets you drop different kinds of food; ants will find the food, divide the carrying work, return to the nest, and bring resources to the whole colony.

As the colony grows, you can hatch more ants, unlock different castes like workers, soldiers, and males, and upgrade attributes such as speed, bite force, carrying capacity, lifespan, defense, and hatching efficiency. Different foods offer various nutritional combinations, and some may even attract insects to your desktop. Ants need to fend off insect attacks; after battles, the corpses can be turned into new food and rare materials.

If your Steam friends are also playing, when you drop high‑tier food there is a chance to invite your friends’ ants to cross‑screen foraging. Friend ants will appear on your desktop as an independent expedition team, and they will bring back resources after completing their tasks; you can also send your own ants to help your friends. The whole cross‑screen process works through Steam friends and P2P connections. When Steam is not running, the offline ecosystem still functions normally.

The game has no fixed level timers or mandatory daily quests. You can let your colony grow slowly in the background, or open the menu at any time to check resources, upgrades, the encyclopaedia, achievements, and friend status. Each time you return to your desktop, you will see new changes left by the ecosystem.
