What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Beyond Dawn already has a playable cycle of exploration, recovery and permanent upgrades, alongside laboratory research and connected missions across different eras. I want feedback on how these parts fit together while I continue building the story. Early Access gives players a way to help test navigation, encounters, performance and progression as the game develops.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Most Content and Fixes are expected to be finished by December 2026.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to expand and finish the connected mission lines, develop the consequences of discoveries across the timeline, and improve encounter balance, performance and usability. The scope and order of additions may change with testing. Features will be described as available only once they are playable in the released build.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes repeatable Beyond Dawn city expeditions, a persistent lair and Foundry, decorating and cave expansions, four connected cavern depths, Wasteland survival and radio missions, laboratory circuit and specimen activities, and a recovered-story archive. It is playable now, but the overall story is unfinished and bugs, balance changes and changes to progression remain possible. Windows 64-bit is the initial Steam platform. Keyboard and mouse are recommended; controller support is partial.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Beyond Dawn is free to play during Early Access, and I plan to keep it free after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to use Steam discussions and development updates to collect bug reports and feedback on clarity, pacing, controls and performance. Reports describing where an issue happened and what led up to it are especially useful. I will share changes through devlogs and use that feedback to guide testing and priorities.”

About This Game

The city sleeps. Scavenge it before it wakes.

Leave your shelter after dark, search abandoned buildings and rooftops, and bring something home before sunrise. Bank salvage, improve your equipment, and decide how much farther you can afford to go. Beyond Dawn is a single-player exploration game set in the world of Liminal Protocol, with a city above you and an increasingly unfamiliar network of caverns below.

Look beneath the surface

The world is rendered in three-dimensional ASCII, with real lighting, depth and movement. Your Lattice implant lets you tune that view: shallow levels reveal navigation, while deeper levels expose disturbances and hidden records. Decode what you find, pin a route, and keep recovered clues in your archive.

Make it home before dawn

Climb through the city, cross rooftops with a winch or Vector Jets, avoid patrols, and search for salvage. Extract to keep what you have found, or push into another district. Back underground, use the Foundry to upgrade your equipment and choose your movement rig. Practice rooms let you learn the controls without risking your supplies.

A place to return

Your lair is a workshop and a home. Arrange its living space, expand into the caves, and prepare for your next departure. A lower hatch leads to four connected depths, through service galleries and freight fissures to an entrance beneath Liminal Corp. Return alive with evidence and specimens to open further investigations.

Work across the timeline

The Observation Station connects the city, the Research Lab and Wasteland. In the lab, work with physical instruments: restore a receiver circuit, study a mineral core, and reconstruct a signal through fragments of glass.

Wasteland explores a possible future of the same world. Follow a survivor's radio requests, recover supplies and face threats in the ruined streets and lower facility. Repair equipment in an earlier era, then select an altered future to see its consequences: an emergency locker, a drained storeroom, or a working underground return lift.

In active development

The current game includes repeatable city expeditions, shelter upgrades and decorating, connected cavern missions, Wasteland missions, laboratory activities, and an archive of the story you have recovered. These systems and their pacing are still being developed. The complete story is not finished.

Beyond Dawn is a standalone game in the Liminal Protocol setting. The separate Liminal Protocol campaign is not included.
