About This Game

Chess just lost its edges. So did whatever confidence you're bringing to this.

Barrel Chess fuses 4 standard chessboards into one open barrel, joined edge-to-edge so there's no seam where the board actually ends. Same pieces. Same rules you learned as a kid. But slide anything sideways far enough and it doesn't stop at an edge - because there isn't one. It crosses clean onto the next board, then the next, looping all the way around the barrel if nothing catches it first. A rook you thought was trapped can suddenly attack from a direction that shouldn't exist. A king you thought was safe isn't, because "safe" on a normal board just doesn't mean the same thing here.

Corner checkmates? Gone. There's nothing left to trap a king against. No walls, no corners, nowhere for your opponent to hide, and nowhere for you to hide either. So all that "I'm good at endgames" confidence you've built up on a normal board? Worthless here. You're starting from zero, same as everyone else who thought they understood chess.

Face down BarrelBot, running on real Stockfish - one of the strongest chess engines on Earth, now forced to babysit 4 boards at once because apparently one wasn't enough of a beating for you. 4 difficulty tiers, and yes, Easy exists. We recommend it.
