About This Game

Hollow Orbits is a turn-based space 4X where you don't watch the battle happen — you aim it, one die at a time. Play head-to-head online or against AI opponents.

Win by wiping out your opponent from the galaxy.

Every Weapon Rolls Its Own Die

There is no attack stat. A Mass Driver, Beam Laser, and Fusion Torpedo are physically different dice. Look at a fleet's weapons and you already know what kind of threat you're facing.

When fleets clash, both sides roll everything at once. Then you pick up each die and aim it by hand. Choose the target, choose the order, and decide where every shot matters.

The roll is luck. Where it lands is not.

Reach the frontline, chew through the screen, then expose what's behind it. Concentrate fire to collapse a defence or spread your shots to keep everything alive.

And destruction doesn't mean silence. A ship destroyed this round still fires everything it rolled. Sometimes the ship you sacrifice is exactly the one that wins the battle.

Nobody Waits Their Turn

Both players plan at the same time, then watch their orders unfold together.

Fleets that collide on the same hex fight it out. Fog of war cuts both ways — you might be watching an empty system while an enemy fleet is massing just beyond your sight.

Build the Ship, Not the Tech Level

Any module fits any slot. Design a template and build it into anything from a Scout to a Titan. Create glass cannons packed with missiles, armoured tanks, missile boats or long-range artillery.

Plating, shields and reinforced hull all compete for the same slots. The weapons that gut capital ships can be useless against light screens. There is no perfect build — only a bet on what you expect to face.

Choose your research path carefully. Specialisation is cheap. Dabbling gets expensive.

A Galaxy Worth Poking

Explore a procedurally generated galaxy of star systems connected by warp lanes. Enter a system and it unfolds into a hex grid.

The richest worlds lie deep within the galaxy, but getting there means reading the terrain and taking risks.

Asteroid belts and debris reward whoever arrives first. Ion storms slow movement and disable shields. Gravity wells pull ships inward. Wormholes can throw you across the galaxy without revealing their destination.

Derelicts and ancient ruins sit quietly in the dark — until you investigate and wake whatever is waiting inside.

Race inward. Explore. Colonise. Fight for the worlds worth having.

Every decision matters

  • Build fleets around your own designs — from disposable missile screens to heavily armoured capital ships.
  • Explore a procedurally generated galaxy where terrain, hidden routes and hostile encounters change every game.
  • Fight over the inner galaxy, where richer worlds offer greater rewards and greater risks.
  • Commit to a research path and shape what your empire can build — without retroactively upgrading ships already in the field.
  • Plan simultaneously with your opponent, then watch both strategies unfold at once.
  • Use fog of war, terrain and deception to hide your intentions and catch enemy fleets off guard.
  • Every battle is a tactical puzzle: weapon matchups, defensive dice, terrain and fleet composition all matter.
  • Play against four AI difficulties or challenge players online in 1v1 or skirmish up to 8 players.
