What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The demo is the first three games with two players. Early Access is where we go up to 7 minigames, bigger house and four-player support. Then we add a minigame every 2-3 weeks. I want people playing it while I work so I can see what makes groups laugh, what breaks, and what needs more work.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm juiced to the gills on nootropics and clankers so it won't take that long. I work hard for anyone who would spend a dime on Bad Shrooms. Version 1.0 means 15 minigames, more playable environments, and a game I am ready to call finished. I expect up to a year. Maybe more, maybe less. Then we get into DLC, new environments in the city. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access is planned to begin with seven minigames, a bigger house, a rebuilt Zlorp finale, and four-player local and Steam multiplayer. During Early Access I plan to keep adding games and playable environments until Bad Shrooms reaches 15 minigames all in the same house. I will also keep fixing bugs and working on the controls, online play, balance, and polish. I would like to add support for larger scale play such as 16-64 players across the city. New locations with their own minigame sets will come later as DLC.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Right now the game has free roam, Monkey Bowls, Floor Is Lava, Zlorp Dash, and the Zlorp finale. It supports two players in local vertical split-screen or over Steam. Early access will launch with four more games, a bigger house, a rebuilt finale, and four-player support.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I expect the price to go up as I add more minigames, environments, and polish. I will announce any price change before it happens.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Play it with friends. Join the discord or send me a message somewhere. I will treat every player message like a ticket and get back to you. Tell me which games you wanted to play again and which parts were confusing. If something breaks, tell me what happened right before it broke. I will use that feedback to decide what needs work first. ”

About This Game

YOU BOUGHT MUSHROOMS FROM A GUY IN A TRENCHCOAT

The pizza rave was going great. Then you paid a stranger in the bathroom thirty dollars for the greatest night of your life.

Nothing happened.

You crossed the street, went home, asked about chips, and passed out.

Now you and your friend are in loaner bodies. Zlorp is in the apartment. He has a litre jar and needs you to fill it with your sweet loosh.

FIRST-PERSON PARTY GAMES IN THE HOUSE

Shoot your friend off a platform into lava. Shove them down an overclocked japanese toilet. Steal their food. Block their ball with a defensive layer of crap. Finish the objective while they are trying to ruin yours.

Winning makes loosh. Losing makes loosh. Zlorp is happy either way.

A FREE THREE-GAME DEMO IS COMING

  • Monkey Bowls — bowl at banana pins. You can block your
  • Floor Is Lava — the house fills with lava. Jump across the furniture and shoot/hit the other player off their route.
  • Zlorp Dash — find the food, pack the order, and launch it through the microwave before the other player does.

The demo supports two-player local vertical split-screen and two-player Steam multiplayer.

WHAT I AM BUILDING FOR EARLY ACCESS

I am building the first Early Access version of seven minigames, four-player local split-screen, four-player Steam multiplayer, a bigger house, and a completely rebuilt Zlorp finale.

During Early Access I will keep adding games and playable environments until Bad Shrooms reaches 15 minigames. That is version 1.0. After that, new locations with their own minigame sets become DLC.

THIS IS NOT A FAMILY-FRIENDLY PARTY GAME

Bad Shrooms is for adults. It has stylized violence, drug references, profanity, adult jokes and innuendo, and Zlorp being Zlorp.

Wishlist Bad Shrooms. Bring a friend.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I only let clankers do boring, uncreative tasks. Most of the code and a small amount of the art is ai generated (some of the posters and custom shaders). The game does not generate content with AI at runtime and does not connect to any AI service during play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Bad Shrooms is a comedic party game intended for adults. The premise involves two friends taking psychedelic mushrooms, which is implied and referenced rather than depicted in detail, and Zlorp himself is shown taking puffs from pipes, vapes, cigarettes, and similar devices. Gameplay includes cartoon first-person violence between players using toy-like weapons, adult humor with occasional innuendo (including household items played as suggestive gags), mild to moderate language, and in-game radio music that contains rap profanity. There is no gore, no nudity or sexual content, and no gambling.
