About This Game

Shorty's was the kind of mom-and-pop repair shop every town used to have. Shorty up front, knowing every customer by name. JM at the back bench, there since practically the beginning, the one who called you "Sparky" and taught you never to trust the first sign of life.

Now the shop has gone quiet. Shorty's note says back soon. The jobs are still on the bench with their tickets clipped on, and the regulars keep stopping by to ask when everyone's coming back. You tell them soon. You're getting good at saying soon.

Then, reaching under Shorty's desk for the good cutters, you find the box. Thick binders, stamped pages, a factory's paperwork pushed all the way to the back. No name on it anywhere. Nothing you've ever seen in this shop.

So you keep working, and every job is a small mystery of its own. Three remotes for one TV, and only one of them is the right one. A remote that "doesn't work all the time." A device that looks dead and isn't, and one that seems fine and is lying to you. Read the symptoms, follow a hunch, test it, and be ready to be wrong.

The repairs are only half of it. Every job sharpens the eye that tells a thing that works from a thing that only looks like it does, and that is the eye the box needs. The hidden paperwork may be part of a larger plot or not. But the reason the shop went quiet might be somewhere in those pages.

  • Every job is a small mystery. Read the symptoms, follow a hunch, test it, and be ready to be wrong.

  • Real skills, real tools. Test, clean, swap in new batteries, bring a corroded contact back: the way a working tech does it.

  • A box that doesn't belong. Binders and stamped pages under Shorty's desk, no name on them anywhere. The answer might be in there.

  • A patient mystery with no cutscenes. The story is never explained to you. You earn it by the quality of your work.

  • Your rank at the bench. Associate, Member or Journey worker: the difficulty you pick is the trust you've earned. Steward waits for the ones who earn it.
