What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Mercenary Guild Manager is a systems-driven game, and systems like these only really reveal themselves once a lot of different people start pushing on them. Early Access puts the game in players' hands while it is still taking shape, so their feedback can guide what comes next, which systems deserve more depth, which events land, and where the difficulty bites too hard or not hard enough.

A management game lives or dies by that tuning, and tuning needs real players. So development continues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last somewhere between six months and a year. That is an estimate based on our plans rather than a commitment. If what we hear from players tells us the game needs longer to become what it should be, we would rather take that time than call it finished too early.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our intention is to deepen what the Early Access version already establishes, rather than bolt on unrelated modes. It is in our plans to:

* Expand the world: more regions, factions, patrons and kinds of contract, and a longer arc for a company's history.
* Enrich the interface and presentation: more art, and screens that are clearer and full of character.
* Refine and extend existing systems guided by how players actually use them.
* Deepen immersion: more written events, more reactive narration, and more detail in the lives of your mercenaries.

How much of this arrives, and in what shape, will depend on what we learn during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is already playable from end to end. The full loop is in place: found your guild, recruit and negotiate with mercenaries, take contracts, send your company out on procedurally generated missions, resolve the events that meet them on the road, and live with the consequences, wounds, wages, morale, desertion and death.

Systems such as training, the infirmary, diplomacy, rival guilds, reputation and the turning of the seasons are implemented and running. What Early Access adds is breadth, polish, and the kind of tuning only real players can surface.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The game is offered at a lower price during Early Access, as a way of recognising the players who come in early and help shape it. It is in our plans to raise the price gradually as content and features grow, so the full release is expected to cost more than the Early Access version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our plan is a Discord server dedicated to the game, where players can report problems, argue about balance, and tell us which systems they want to see grow. We will also be reading and replying on the Steam forums and in the community hub.

Mostly, we intend to listen and where the community prefers to gather is as much their call as ours. Feedback on difficulty, on the events, and on how readable the interface is will weigh directly on what we work on next.”

About This Game

Raise Your Banner. Keep It Standing.

Mercenary Guild Manager is a text-driven management game where you command a mercenary guild in a medieval fantasy kingdom.

Hire warriors you may never fully trust, accept dangerous contracts, and try to keep your guild running for as long as you still have gold, soldiers, and reputation.

You can pause time, plan your decisions, and speed up the passing days. Meanwhile, unexpected events appear and change the course of your story.

Get to Know Your Team

Here, you will not find percentages or bars that give you all the answers.

A recruit may seem promising, experienced, or past their prime. A mission may be described as easy, risky, or extremely dangerous.

You discover who your mercenaries truly are over time by watching their actions, earning their trust, and dealing with the consequences of your decisions.

Knowing how to judge people is one of the most important skills a good captain can have.

Every Contract Tells a Story

Negotiate payments and conditions with clients, examine the risks, and choose the right mercenaries for each mission.

During the journey, new events may force you to make difficult decisions. Push forward through the night or wait until sunrise? Help an injured traveler or continue with the original plan?

Every choice puts your team to the test.

Success is never guaranteed, but neither is disaster.

Survive the Bills

Wages, headquarters maintenance, mission rewards, medical treatment, equipment, and personal ambitions all compete for the same money. As your company grows, so do the costs.

There is no traditional victory screen.

Your true score is how long your company can survive. A bad run of contracts may drive your guild into bankruptcy and leave its hall completely empty.

A World That Keeps Moving

Nobles, merchants, religious leaders, and criminals all have their own interests.

Every contract you accept helps someone and often harms someone else.

Build alliances, uncover secrets, make enemies, and watch rival guilds rise, weaken, or disappear.

The world reacts to your choices, even when you do not notice the consequences immediately.

Your Company, Your Legend

Create the banner and coat of arms of your guild. Choose your headquarters, set your rules, train new recruits, care for the wounded, and bury those who never returned.

Every decision, victory, and defeat is recorded in your company chronicle.

In the end, it is not only about how much gold you collected, but also about the story you managed to build.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some of the game’s visual assets were created with the assistance of generative AI. All generated artwork is reviewed, edited, refined, and adapted by the development team to maintain a consistent visual identity and ensure that it matches the game’s artistic direction and design choices.

This approach was necessary due to the high cost of commissioning the full amount of artwork required from one or more professional artists or illustrators. Using AI-assisted tools helped keep the project financially viable, speed up production, and bring the game to players sooner while preserving a cohesive and recognizable style.
