Hot Seat Triage is an arcade simulation about the lethal cognitive traps of real emergency rooms. The waiting room is overflowing, data is incomplete, and every patient carries a fading aura: a real-time countdown to decompensation.

Select a patient. Ask up to three questions. Assign priority: CRITICAL, URGENT, or STABLE.

The obvious diagnosis is usually the bait. Every single case is engineered around a real cognitive bias built to fool experienced minds and novices alike.

Authored by an Emergency Physician

Every scenario is designed and clinically reviewed by an active emergency physician and medical educator. Grounded in established clinical decision-making literature (Croskerry, Graber, Tversky & Kahneman), the game translates abstract cognitive biases into immediate, high-pressure gameplay.

Game Modes

• Arcade: Choose from three shift lengths, chase S-ranks, and tweak the rules with 5 score-modifying mutators.

• Campaign: Clear 5 escalating shifts with a B-grade or higher to advance.

• Daily Shift: A single daily seeded run. One attempt, identical cases worldwide. Compare report cards and global ranks.

Code: The game's code was written with the assistance of Claude (Anthropic). All AI-assisted code was directed, reviewed and tested by the developer.

Art: The in-game background image was initially generated with Nano Banana 2, then manually edited and finalized by the developer. All other art and UI assets are human-made.

Text: Clinical case scenarios were drafted with AI assistance and then reviewed, corrected and medically approved by the developer, an emergency medicine physician.

Audio: The theme music and some sound effects were created by the developer using Suno.
