Hot Seat Triage End User Licence Agreement

System Two Games, Agreement version 1, effective 29 October 2026

1. Agreement

This End User Licence Agreement ("Agreement") is a contract between you and System Two Games ("we", "us"), the developer of Hot Seat Triage ("the Software"). References to the Software include its free demo, any playtest version and all updates. By installing or using the Software you accept this Agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software.

This Agreement covers the Software only. Your purchase, refunds, your Steam account and the Steam platform itself remain governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Where this Agreement conflicts with the Steam Subscriber Agreement, the Steam Subscriber Agreement prevails.

2. Medical disclaimer: please read this section

The Software is a game made for education and entertainment. It is not a medical device, not clinical decision support, and not a source of medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

All patients, cases, vital signs and outcomes in the Software are fictional. They are written to teach recognition of cognitive bias, not to describe correct clinical management. Case content is simplified, time compressed and deliberately built around traps. It has not been validated for clinical use by any regulatory body, professional college or health authority.

Nothing in the Software may be used to make, support or justify a decision about a real patient. Real clinical decisions must follow local protocols, institutional policy and professional judgement. Correct answers inside the game do not indicate competence outside it, and incorrect answers do not indicate its absence.

The Software does not create a doctor-patient or teacher-student relationship of any kind.

3. Licence granted to you

Subject to this Agreement, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the Software for your own personal, non-commercial use, on the devices allowed by your Steam account.

4. Educational and institutional use

Playing the Software individually is permitted for anyone, including clinicians, students and educators, and including play that happens to be useful for their work or studies.

A separate written licence is required if the Software is embedded into the delivery of a programme, service or product, including: use in a scheduled course, curriculum, residency programme, orientation or certified training; simultaneous multi-seat deployment by an institution; use in paid workshops, congresses or commercial training; and use in a research study that collects data from participants.

Institutional licences exist and are inexpensive. Write to info@systemtwo.games and we will answer. This clause is not designed to keep the Software out of teaching; it is designed so that teaching use is known to us and supported properly.

5. Case content and data restrictions

The case bank is the core intellectual property of the Software. You may not:

  • a) extract, scrape, mine, decompile or otherwise bulk-collect the case texts, case metadata or bias annotations from the Software or its files;
  • b) reproduce, publish or redistribute the case bank, in whole or in substantial part, in any form, including as a question bank, dataset, flashcard set, teaching material or printed collection;
  • c) use the case bank or any part of it as training, fine-tuning, evaluation or retrieval data for machine learning models or artificial intelligence systems;
  • d) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

Quoting a small number of individual cases for review, journalism, teaching commentary or academic discussion, with attribution to Hot Seat Triage, is permitted and welcome.

6. Video, streaming and content creation

You may record, stream and publish video of your own play, including monetised video, on any platform, without asking us. You may use the Software's name and images in the description of that content. You may not present such content as an official product of System Two Games, and you may not use it to distribute the case bank as described in section 5.

7. Early Access

The Software is distributed in Steam Early Access. It is incomplete and under active development. Features, balance, case content and interfaces will change, and planned features may be delayed, altered or dropped. Statements on the store page about future development describe our intent, not a guarantee. Buy the Software for what it is today, not for what it may become.

8. Data

The Software stores your save data on your device. On first launch it asks whether you want to share anonymous gameplay statistics; if you do not agree, nothing is sent. If you agree, it sends anonymous gameplay statistics and any case reports you file, and you can withdraw that consent at any time in Options > General. What is sent, what is never sent and how to request deletion is described at https://systemtwo.games/privacy/hot-seat-triage/. Steam achievements, leaderboards, statistics and cloud saves are provided by Valve and are governed by Valve's own terms and privacy policy.

9. Ownership

The Software, including its code, case bank, artwork, music, sound and text, is owned by System Two Games and its licensors and is protected by copyright. This Agreement grants a licence to use the Software; it does not transfer ownership of anything. Third-party assets used under licence are credited inside the Software under Options > About. Open-source components included in the Software are distributed under their own licences, which are supplied with the Software's files; for those components, their own licence terms apply instead of this Agreement.

10. Warranty and liability

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We do not warrant that the Software is free of errors, that its clinical content is accurate or current, or that it is fit for any professional, educational or clinical purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on the content of the Software, including any clinical decision. Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer and liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach it in a way that is material and not remedied. Sections 2, 5, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 16 survive termination. Termination of this licence does not affect your rights against Valve under the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

12. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you habitually reside, which continue to apply to you.

13. Leaderboards and fair play

Do not use cheats, modified game files, automation or any other method to manipulate scores, leaderboards, achievements or statistics. Do not enter leaderboard names that are offensive, impersonate another person or reveal someone else's personal data. We may remove leaderboard entries that break these rules.

14. Feedback and case reports

If you send us feedback, suggestions or case reports, we may use them to improve the Software without any obligation or payment to you. Case reports contain only the fields described in the privacy notes referred to in section 8.

15. Age

The Software is not directed at children. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Software only with the agreement of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts this Agreement on your behalf.

16. General

This Agreement and the Steam Subscriber Agreement are the whole agreement between you and us about the Software. If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. This Agreement is published in English and Turkish; if the two differ, the English version prevails, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.

17. Changes and contact

We may update this Agreement when the Software changes materially. A new version is published at https://systemtwo.games/eula/hot-seat-triage/, announced in the Software's update posts and, where Steam supports it, presented for you to accept when you next launch the Software. Until you accept a new version, the version you last accepted continues to apply to you. If you do not accept it, you may stop using the Software; your rights under the Steam Subscriber Agreement are unaffected. The current version is shown on the Steam store page and at that address, which is linked from Options > About inside the Software.
