What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Crown Marshal's core gameplay loop is already fully playable. However, as an online strategy game built around unit counters, formation planning, and limited information, its balance, match pacing, and accessibility will benefit from a wider range of real player experiences.

We are using Early Access to begin that conversation early, improve the game through hands-on feedback, and allow the community's experience to help inform our development priorities.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Crown Marshal to remain in Early Access for approximately 24 months.

This estimate may change depending on development progress, testing results, and community feedback. Rather than rushing to meet a fixed date, we intend to evaluate when the game is ready to leave Early Access based on its content, stability, and overall level of polish.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version focuses on the core gameplay of turn-based deployment, unit counters, resource decisions, and automatic battles.

As development continues, we plan to expand the unit roster, reinforcement options, maps, and ways to play while improving matchmaking, onboarding, the user interface, audiovisual presentation, balance, and stability. We would also like to explore team-based modes and additional forms of long-term progression.

The exact content and order of these priorities may change based on testing, technical considerations, and community feedback. Our overall goal is to build a richer, more stable, and easier-to-understand experience around the existing core gameplay.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes the complete core match loop.

Players can compete online, manage resources each round, recruit and deploy units, choose reinforcements and upgrades, and watch opposing armies fight automatically through a complete match. The game already includes a variety of fantasy units with distinct roles, strengths, and counters.

The game is still at an early stage of development. Its content, balance, online stability, interface, and presentation are all subject to change. Players may encounter bugs, balance issues, or significant changes to features during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan for the base game to remain free both during Early Access and after it leaves Early Access.

As development continues, we may consider offering optional paid in-game content or DLC. The form and scope of any paid content have not yet been decided and may change depending on development progress and player feedback. Any substantial changes to this plan would be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to communicate with players through the Steam Community Hub, discussion forums, announcements, and a dedicated community chat space.

We will pay particular attention to feedback on game balance, unit design, interface clarity, online stability, and ideas for future content. Community feedback will help inform our priorities alongside technical feasibility and the overall direction of the game.

Major updates, planned adjustments, and opportunities to test new content will be shared through these channels so that players can follow development and take part in the discussion.”

About This Game

You don't need to wield the sword yourself. Your task is to win the battle before the first blow is struck.

Crown Marshal is an online medieval fantasy strategy game built around turn-based deployment and automatic battles.

Each round, recruit troops, arrange your formation, choose reinforcements, and use limited information to anticipate what the enemy will do next. Once everyone is ready, the battlefield is revealed and the armies charge. Every choice made before the clash is put to the test.

Read the Enemy. Build the Counter.

Every formation has a weakness. Find theirs before they find yours.

Study what the enemy has already revealed, predict where they will reinforce, then deploy the answer. The information at your disposal is always one step behind, turning every battlefield reveal into a moment of tension.

Let Your Formation Do the Fighting

Who absorbs the opening charge? Who protects the vulnerable back line? Which units hold the center, and which strike from the flank?

Once battle begins, your army carries out the plan on its own. Fast reflexes cannot rescue a poor formation—the real contest begins long before the first clash.

Build an Army That Evolves Each Round

Your army remains on the field and grows over the course of the match. Early decisions continue to shape every battle that follows.

Do you expand your ranks now, strengthen your forces, or save resources for the next round? Do you seize the reinforcement on offer, or wait for something better suited to your strategy? Every choice shapes the army you are building—and the direction of the entire match.

Rally a Fantasy Army

From steadfast infantry, knights, and ranged troops to mages, flying beasts, towering monsters, and roaring war machines, every unit fills a distinct role in a web of counters and combinations.

Build a dependable front line, support it with the right firepower, and adapt as the arms race escalates. Read the enemy, answer each new threat, and leave them nowhere to turn.

No frantic inputs. No mid-battle micromanagement. Outthink the enemy—and let your formation claim the crown.
