What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“DIRTNAP is a multiplayer game, and multiplayer games are shaped by the people who play them. The game is already packed with content and is fully playable, but we want to get it into players' hands as early as possible so the community can influence where it goes.

What new characters, weapons, and game modes get added, how the balance feels, and what needs fixing. Early Access lets us gather feedback, iterate quickly, and build the game together with the players instead of guessing in the dark!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to release the game latest in Q1/2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to have more content for the launch, meaning weapons, maps, themes, game modes and so on.

Beyond new content, we'll focus on balance tuning, quality-of-life features, and overall polish. If players ask for something great that isn't on our list, there's a good chance it ends up in the game!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable in its current state. Current features include:
- Online multiplayer, with bots to fill matches
- 7 playable characters, each with their own stats, melee weapon, and special abilities
- 30+ weapons, from rifles and grenades to homing missiles and air strikes
- Fully destructible, procedurally generated terrain with simulated fluids
- 4 maps each in 3 sizes
- 4 game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Battle Royale, and Capture the Flag - plus a tournament mode with between-round upgrades

Bugs and rough edges likely exist, but the core experience should be solid and complete.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to keep the price the same when the game leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be active in the Steam Community discussions and on our Discord server, reading everything and responding as much as we can. Bug reports, balance complaints, and feature ideas all directly shape our priorities - we'll share what we're working on through patch notes and announcements.

We're a tiny team, so the leap from "a player suggests something" to "it's in the game" is very short.”
