About This Game

The world ended. Home still needs tending.

Nine Winters is a cozy post-apocalyptic life sim about building a life in a ruined city and seeing nine winters through. Search the ruins for useful supplies, then repair an empty place and make it home. Use what you bring back for meals, repairs, and furniture. A mattress on the floor can become a worn single bed, then a warm double bed. A stove made from stones and a tin can can become a proper wood stove.

  • Explore the City Yourself: The city holds 19 areas to explore. Choose a destination and an exploration approach, pack the tools you need, and head out yourself. Use your supplies for food, repairs, furniture, and clearing the way to a new home.

  • Choose a Place to Call Home: A rooftop room, a bunker, a bus, an abandoned subway station, a lighthouse, even a ship can become home. Move into the place you like, patch the cracks, get the heat working, and choose the wallpaper, flooring, and furniture. Each place has its own surroundings, uses, and limits.

  • Make a Way Through Winter: Winter does not lock you indoors. When snow closes a road, spend supplies and Energy to clear it or take the long way around. Fill a thermos with hot water, tea, or coffee, then pack soup, gloves, a flashlight, or first-aid supplies. Winter trips may also turn up goggles, earmuffs, and other cold-weather accessories.

  • Keep the House Running: Back home, cook a meal and heat water for tea or coffee. Tend crops, sew a quilt, and mend worn-out belongings. If a stray cat finds your door, feed it and let it stay.

  • After the Ninth Winter: Winter comes nine times. Each year grows colder, and old broadcasts and systems begin to fall silent. New routes open as the city changes. Tune in to distant broadcasts, search the city for old records, and listen for calls on a handheld radio. None of these traces is required to advance. The ninth winter still comes, and the game continues after it.

  • Choose How to Play: Cozy offers plentiful resources and milder weather. Survival and Deep Freeze make supplies harder to find and cold snaps more common. Endless mode keeps the game going. Wallpaper mode lets you decorate without spending resources. Turn on Auto Progress and watch the days pass, or keep a finished home on your desktop as a widget.

Outside, the city is frozen. Inside, the stove is still burning.
