What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Praey for the Gods is an entirely crowdfunded game being developed by a team of 3. The game has been tested by our crowdfunding backers in pre-alpha, closed alpha and closed beta phases for the past 2 years. At this point, the core game play is starting to feel solid and we've delivered on the list of content we said we would for our backers. However, we aren't done yet! We love making this game and want to add additional bosses, more content, expanded lore, a proper ending, polish, and optimization (improved frame rate) prior to a 1.0 release.

Since the beginning our community has meant everything to us. We want to continue to work closely with our players to make PFTG the best experience it can be.

As we are in active development, Praey for the Gods may have bugs, crashes, and performance issues. We will try our best to keep the game experience as stable as possible, however issues will crop up from time to time. Supporting Praey for the Gods now in early access will allow us to fine tune, and add new content in conjunction with player feedback that will help us shape the full release of the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to stay in early access for approx 6-12 months, however this is an estimate and may go longer if we need additional time to reach v1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of PFTG will have additional bosses, more content, optimization, proper ending, and further polish as we intend for it to be a complete boss climbing exploration survival experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Praey for the Gods has been under daily development for well over 2 years prior to being on Early Access. Much of our core systems, and game play experience are fully playable. Read the "About This" section for more details. We expect to continue this approach of development and look to have new features roll out that compliment and improve the experience for both new and veteran players.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Not at this time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“From the get go, we've relied heavily on our community and their feedback to make this game the best it can be. We've done our best to be transparent in our development. We have an in-game feedback button where any player can leave feedback/bugs they find and want to share with us. We put out quarterly newsletters, and are very active on Discord, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. While in Early Access, we look to continue this approach to our development and are always looking for more ways to connect with our community.

Early Access Build 0.5.015 & PftG Roadmap

Hi everyone.
We have another update for you!
This update brings many bug fixes, some of which could cause frustrations while in combat with enemies and they re-spawn or getting stuck in areas and having to reload from a previous save.

Important Note:
If you are experiencing graphics issues or have the player/boss disappearing, please try updating your graphics card drivers. Many of our users have reported these issues going away upon updating drivers.

Also with this build we have created a public roadmap in order to give PftG players an idea of what is to come in the future. The roadmap is still early and will surely see many changes and improvements over time, such as better descriptions. Tasks on the roadmap are marked when they are being worked on or expected to be worked on, not when they are being released. There are many more minor tasks we left off of this roadmap for the sake of clarity, such as balance, polish, tweaks and bug fixing, but we keep track of these more minor things internally.

Roadmap Link:

Early Access Build 0.5.015

- Fixed the re-spawn world event happening while in battle, causing enemies to pop back to their original location.
- Fixed the player not dying in water on Normal and Easy
- Fixed white screen getting stuck on if player dies during it
- Fixed going back to Boss #3 arena locking the player in
- Fixed player floating in air in Boss #3's arena when going back after defeating it.

- Fixed Boss #4’s music playing in arena even after dead

Thanks again for all the great feedback and bug reports -- we're digging through it as quickly as we can. Keep it coming!

About This Game

Praey for the Gods is a boss climbing open world adventure game where you play a lone hero sent to the edge of a dying frozen world to discover the mystery behind a never-ending winter.
NOTE: Praey for the Gods has full in-game controller support aside from the launcher.

Scale Massive Beasts

Overcome impossible odds to climb atop and defeat the massive beasts that are bound to this land.

Climb, Glide, Swim

You can climb on virtually anything you can get your hands on, from ruins and mountains to the massive beasts that inhabit the land. Ascend to the tops of mountains and then glide over the open world to reach previously inaccessible locations. Swim in frigid water to uncover hidden locations that contain secrets and treasure, but don't stay in too long or your swim could become your last.

Explore, Craft, and Survive

You'll arrive on a frozen island with only the clothes on your back -- it's up to you to survive. Make fires, hunt for food, and find the equipment you need to make it through an eternal winter. Nature isn't the only danger, so craft weapons, defeat minions for better gear, and venture into long forgotten caves to discover their secrets. Triumphing over these trials will prepare you for the impossible odds that wait.

Make Your Path

Praey for the Gods is a non-linear game where you choose who you battle and how. The large beasts can be attempted in any order allowing you to set the course.

Unravel the Mystery

Why won't the winter stop? Why has no one returned? Cryptic paintings left behind allude to a story once thought forgotten. To restore balance and reclaim the land, you you will be faced with questions that not even the gods know the answer to.

A Beautifully Frigid World

Explore a landscape of unending winter framed by snow-capped peaks and crawling fog. The remnants of an ancient civilization lie before you, but don't let awe turn into carelessness -- snow storms can crop up at any moment and bury you in a blizzard. Luckily, you can leave footprints in the snow and follow your footsteps back if you are lost.

About the Development Team

Praey for the Gods is being created by No Matter Studios a tiny studio of 3. Brian Parnell, Tim Wiese (glasses) and Hung-Chien Liao. In 2014, the friends began working after-hours on their first game. By January 2016, they had enough confidence in their progress to leave game-studio jobs in San Francisco and move to Seattle. Working in Parnell’s basement, they pursued an all-or-nothing dream to make the game of their dreams.
