About This Game

Checkmate: Chester is a chess game featuring asymmetric mechanics and an integrated narrative.

The game is divided into two main modes:

  • Campaign / Story Mode: A 2D RPG where you play as Chester, a character who travels across the world and becomes involved in the stories and conflicts of its four factions. As the story progresses, players level up, meet new characters, and customize their chess piece setup.

  • Multiplayer Mode: Players can face each other either online through matchmaking or offline in hotseat mode on the same screen. Each player chooses one of the four factions and competes against the other.

Each faction features pieces with unique abilities that alter the traditional rules of chess, making every faction play in a completely different way.

The game combines the strategy of traditional chess with character progression, customization, and narrative.
