What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Because we want to build the rest of this with the people who actually play it, instead of guessing at it on our own. The core is already here. You can train your skills, fight your way to the dragon, and play the whole loop start to finish. What's left is tuning and balance and polish and more content, and that kind of work just goes better in the open. We would rather find out something feels off now than hear about it after launch. So we're doing it here, with you, while it's still taking shape.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Somewhere around 6 to 12 months. Honestly it depends on how the content and the balance come together.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Mostly more content. More enemies, more quests, more recipes, more to do once you're deep in. The core is here. We're filling it out.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It's playable start to finish already. You can train your skills, work through the questline, and fight your way up to the Green Dragon. Offline progress up to a full day, the themes, the save system, all in. What's not done yet is the balance, some polish, and more content. So you're getting a complete loop that still has a few rough edges. I'm not going to pretend otherwise. We're sanding them down as we go.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As we add content and get closer to full release the price will probably go up. Buying in now gets you the lowest price it will ever be, and the money goes straight into building the rest.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There's two of us. That's the whole studio. So we're going to stay close to this, reading the forums and the reviews and taking the balance and feature feedback straight from you. A lot of what we build next will come from what you tell us, what feels good and what doesn't. If a skill drags or something feels pointless, say so. We'll do our best to fix it.”

About This Game

⛏️ Train your skills

Mine ore. Fish. Smith your own gear, cook what you catch, pick a few pockets, work a farm. Every skill levels up the way you'd expect from an idle RPG, and you take each one as far as you want. No clock, no pressure. You play at your own pace.

⚔️ Fight your way up

You start out fighting Goblins and work your way up to a Green Dragon. It's a real fight, and you'll need everything you've made to win it. Build your gear, brew your potions, go kill it. What happens after that, you'll find out when you get there.

😴 It runs while you're gone

Close the game and it keeps going without you. Come back and it catches you up on up to 24 hours of everything that ran while you were away, and shows you a report of it. Same game whether you're watching or not.

🌌 There's more to it

The skills you start with aren't all of it. The longer you play, the more opens up, more to do and more reasons to come back. We're not going to spoil it here. You'll find it.

🎨 Make it yours

Six themes to play in: Cosmic Voyage, Crimson Forge, Emerald Grove, Cyberpunk Neon, Amber Sands, and Obsidian Void. It's a premium desktop app. One purchase, that's it. No ads, no energy timers, no microtransactions.

⏳ Early Access

Monotony Idle is in Early Access. The core game is here and you can play it right now. We're still tuning balance, polishing, and adding content, and we're doing it out in the open with players. We'll see where it goes. Check the Early Access box above for the details.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Monotony Idle is made by a two-person team working alongside AI tools, and we want to be straightforward about where that shows up.

Some in-game text, imagery, and data were drafted with AI assistance.

Our store page materials - capsule art, store text, and trailer - were built from the game's real assets. All screenshots and trailer footage are captures of actual gameplay, not AI-fabricated imagery.

Live-generated content: none. The game does not use AI at runtime - nothing is generated while you play, and the game never sends your data to any AI service.

Every AI-assisted asset was directed, reviewed, and approved by a human before shipping.
