Take over a small rug restoration workshop in Poland in 2006. Unroll your next job, pick up your tools, and work through layers of dust, stubborn stains, and years of wear. Rug Restorer combines the satisfaction of cleaning by hand with the everyday business of running a neighborhood workshop.

Clean rugs by hand

Hang a rug on the beating rack and knock the dust out. Work cleaning solution into the fibers, rinse away the grime, then draw your squeegee across the surface to push dirty water over the edge. Watch colors and patterns emerge with each pass, from the first clean stripe to the final rinse.

Find the right treatment

A sturdy synthetic rug, a delicate silk rug, and a thick shag rug each need a different approach. Choose your tools and cleaning products to suit the material. Freeze stubborn chewing gum before scraping it away, use steam where it helps, and inspect with a UV lamp to find stains ordinary light can hide. Clear job cards help you work out what comes next.

Restore worn rugs

Bring your attention to the smaller details: tangled fringes, damaged edges, missing tufts, and faded patches. Comb, mend, and restore as each job requires. Once the work is done and the rug is dry, roll it up for its return. Give a well-used object the care it needs to go back into someone's home.

Run your own workshop

Check your email, answer the phone, and welcome customers at the counter. Take on cleaning and restoration jobs, receive rugs from the courier, and prepare finished orders for collection. Put your earnings toward better equipment and new supplies while keeping the workshop's bills covered. Customer notes and conversations give the work a personal touch.
