About This Game

Fight the depths. Stack relics. Bargain with Death.

MegaDope 2D is a fast dark-fantasy arena roguelite set in the Eternium universe. Pick a hero, enter a cursed depth, survive enemy pressure, collect Soul Orbs and gold, draft strange power, and decide whether to pay Death for one more chance when the run falls apart.

This is the Steam-first playable foundation of MegaDope: the place where the heroes, enemy factions, relics, bosses, Hall of the Fallen, soundtrack, and larger Eternium style are being forged into a game players can actually run, break, and master.

Survive, collect, choose, risk Death

The core loop is simple, readable, and dangerous:

  • Enter a depth - Pick a hero and route into a themed realm of Eternium.
  • Fight the horde - Melee, fast, tank, flying, ranged, exploding, elite, mini-boss, and boss enemies pressure movement and timing.
  • Collect power - Soul Orbs, gold, chests, ability rewards, and relics turn a run into a build.
  • Draft risky upgrades - Stack damage, survival, greed, speed, boss pressure, Soul collection, or Death-flavored nonsense.
  • Face Death - Spend gold to rewind a doomed moment, or accept the end and let the Hall remember the run.
  • Chase the next clear - Push for deeper routes, cleaner boss wins, bigger kills, and leaderboard-worthy chaos.

Ten depths through Eternium

Every realm is built to feel like a different branch of the same cursed universe. The goal is not just new backgrounds. Each depth should bring its own color, enemy language, boss identity, and portal fantasy.

  • 01 Fallen Kingdom - Boss: The Fallen King
  • 02 Deep Forest - Boss: The Elder Stag
  • 03 Silverpine - Boss: The Grand Archmage
  • 04 Woodland Realm - Boss: The Last Guardian
  • 05 Forgotten Foundry - Boss: The Forge Mind
  • 06 Machine Horizon - Boss: The Overseer
  • 07 Celestial Casino - Boss: The House
  • 08 Broken Singularity - Boss: The Singularity Warden
  • 09 Abyss Engine - Boss: The Abyss Engine
  • 10 Infernal Core - Boss: Hidden until release

Enemy factions with personality

Enemies are meant to be the pressure system, not filler. Fallen knights, forest corruption, machine-floor threats, casino nightmares, singularity-scale monsters, and abyss engine bosses all push the arena in different directions.

Expect readable chaos: silhouettes you can learn, waves that punish hesitation, elites that change the run, and bosses that turn a depth into a memory event.

  • Executioner Knight - Heavy close-range pressure from the Fallen Kingdom.
  • Fallen King - A realm-ending boss built like a first true wall.
  • Queen Sylvaria - Elegant forest corruption with elite presence.
  • Horizon Engine - Machine-floor rhythm, cold shapes, and projectile pressure.
  • The House - Casino risk, punishment, and reward sitting at the same table.
  • Event Horizon Colossus - Late-depth scale where the battlefield starts to bend.
  • Malgorath - Abyss machinery and boss-stage dread.

Relics, resources, and reckless builds

MegaDope 2D is about the moment a build starts making suspiciously powerful sense. Soul Orbs feed progression. Gold buys opportunity and pays Death's bill. Chests, ability rewards, and relics make the next wave worth risking.

  • Soul Orbs - The core signal of progress, power, and legacy.
  • Gold - The resource behind greed, opportunity, and Death rewind decisions.
  • Depth - Proof the run is getting serious.
  • Kills - Score pressure for leaderboards and personal bests.
  • Relic examples - Blood Vial, Death's Hourglass, Grave Key, War Banner, Soul Magnet, Borrowed Time, Casino Coin, Crown of the Fallen, Swift Boots, Gilded Coin, Demon Tooth, Broken Gear.

Death + Hall of the Fallen

Death is not just a fail state. Death is a room, a bargain, a bill, and sometimes a bad decision you can pay to undo.

  • Rewind Death - Spend gold to pull a doomed run back from the edge.
  • Accept Death - Let the Reaper take the soul when the bill is too high.
  • Enter the Hall - Turn the failed run into memory, stats, tombstones, and Soul Orb legacy.
  • Return stronger - Push deeper so the player's place in the Hall means more next time.

The Hall of the Fallen is the emotional center of MegaDope. A failed run should not vanish; it should become a story, a mark, and a reason to try again.

Heroes and build fantasies

Each hero is a different answer to the same question: how do you survive when the arena starts lying to you?

  • Maximus - Protector-warrior energy, spectral blades, armor, and front-line pressure.
  • Luna - Fire, void, unstable magic, and aggressive area control.
  • Ashlee - Rift energy, elegant blades, and high-style combat.
  • Zane - Blue lightning, speed, precision, and reckless momentum.
  • Legolus - Forest memory, range, patience, and long-distance control.

Leaderboards and run memory

MegaDope 2D tracks the stuff that makes a run worth arguing about: kills, depth, bosses, chests, shrines, Soul Orbs, rewinds, and the glorious mess between them. If a build becomes unreasonable, the leaderboard should know about it.

Original game soundtrack

MegaDope 2D V1 Original Game Soundtrack by Owen's Rebellion is part of the identity of the game. The music direction is tied to the same dark fantasy, casino, machine, forest, and Death-bargain energy that defines the world.

Built by a solo developer
