What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're launching in Early Access because we want players to directly shape where the game goes next — which roadmap features we build first, how game systems are balanced, and how the galaxy holds up at scale”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early 2027 is the intended 1.0 release”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access we plan to expand StarFrame well beyond the current build. Planned additions include on-foot gameplay — leaving the cockpit for missions and entering structures as a person rather than a hull; a jobs-and-contracts board of always-available NPC work plus player-posted contracts; a third-person external flight camera; and an ongoing pass over visual effects and UI. We also plan to deepen existing systems: mining, industry, corporations, and corp/faction warfare, and to let playtest feedback guide which new systems and expansions we pursue next. Alongside this we plan to keep fixing bugs and scaling server infrastructure to support higher concurrent player counts.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“StarFrame is currently a fully playable persistent multiplayer space sim set in a single galaxy of 25 interconnected star systems and four warring factions. Players can mine asteroid belts, engage in PvP/PvE ship combat with lasers, autocannons, and lock-on missiles plus countermeasures, refine ore and manufacture ships, modules, and structures, and form corporations to contest territory.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. The Premium License (subscription) 30 day pass will remain the same. The game will remain free and playable with limitations without this Premium License.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We involve players through concurrent-player load testing and bug reporting, and most importantly, through direct feedback on gameplay systems, balance, and which roadmap features to prioritize. We plan to gather this through Discord and in-game feedback, post regular patch notes explaining what changed and why, and let community input steer what we build next.”

About This Game

StarFrame

A single persistent galaxy shared by every player.

Security and Risk

Space is divided by security level. Players cannot damage each other in high security space. Low security space is unpoliced, but it holds the best ore, loot, and the most dangerous pirates.

Anything valuable has to be flown back home, and that trip can be dangerous. Lose a fight and you lose everything you had with you: the ship, the fit and the cargo.

Combat

Lasers are hitscan and land where you point. Autocannons and artillery have projectile travel, so you lead moving targets. Missiles lock on, and flares and jammers can counter them.

Mining and Industry

Refined ore feeds the production chain. You manufacture ships and modules from blueprints you find and learn. Skills train through use, so you improve at what you spend your time on. Ships are fitted from a slot system and finished with rigs that roll their own stats.

A galaxy of real players

Fly with a party, or found a corporation with a shared wallet, storage and ranks. Deploy storage depots and corporate outposts, declare war on rivals and siege their structures.

Premium

Premium is optional. It doubles skill XP rates, raises your skill pool caps, allows for parallel processing and manufacturing jobs, and lets you expand both your hangar and your station storage. Founding a corporation and deploying structures also require it.

No skill, ship, module or item is locked behind premium. There is nothing to buy but time.

Key Features

  • Flight system - Ships have real weight and momentum, with a flight assist you can toggle

  • Skills - Trained by use rather than from a queue. A cap on your total levels means nobody can do everything

  • Persistent universe - One galaxy shared by every player, running whether you are logged in or not

  • Full production chain - Mining, processing, manufacturing and fitting, gated by blueprints and trained skills

  • Mining - An active minigame where pushing the extraction too hard costs you the cycle

  • Aim-based combat - Hitscan lasers, projectile autocannons and artillery, lock-on missiles and countermeasures

  • Security-zoned space - High, medium, and low sec, with risk that scales with reward

  • Full Loot - Total loss on death. Your cargo and rigs drop, and the wreck can be salvaged for materials

  • Player-driven economy - Per-system order books, a galaxy price view and player to player trading

  • Corps, parties & war - Shared assets and structures worth fighting over

  • Faction warfare - A front line other players are pushing against

  • Things to chase - Exploration, timed Rift runs, rare rig modules with rolled stats

  • Wireframe visual style - a modern take on classic vector space; runs on anything
