About This Software

Limitlesscape turns your desktop into an endless canvas that pans and zooms from 1% to 2000%. It sits

behind your windows, where your wallpaper used to be, and your real files, folders and shortcuts live

on it as cards you place yourself.

● Your real files, where you put them. Drag them in from Explorer. Group a project in one corner and push last year into the distance.

● Regions you can name, so every part of your life gets its own place on the map.

● Warp points on Ctrl+1 through 9 take you straight to a place. Hold M for Universe Peek and the whole board becomes a constellation of everything you own.

● Press Home to fit everything in view, and step back through where you've been with Ctrl+0 or the mouse's back button.

● Connections in 7 styles to wire related cards together. Linked cards move as one (on by default).

● Live Folders that mirror a real folder and keep themselves sorted, and sticky notes in six papers.

● 49 auto-arrange patterns: a pile becomes a spiral, a wave or a heart in one click.

● Spotlight search on Ctrl+F, plus undo and redo for moves, resizes, deletes, edits and connection changes.

● Wallpapers that move: solid, gradient, image, GIF or your own video, plus 31 generated, animated styles across four families (psychedelic flows, a drifting moon surface, living maps and orbital planets). Image, GIF and video wallpapers can each have a separate night version that swaps in after dark.

● 19 widgets that live on the board: clocks, a calendar, a countdown, a stopwatch, a pomodoro, a checklist, a photo frame, drive space, world clocks, color swatches, snippets, board stats, and a Stardust Mine.

● 70 grid styles, from graph paper to a starfield; 24 zoom indicators; 8 animated border effects.

And you're not alone on it. More than 500 pixel companions, each animated frame by frame, across 27

families: the deep-water ones, the feathered ones, the court of hollows, the yokai, the small gods.

Nine temperaments. Some are homebodies, some are showoffs, and a few are sleepyheads.

You choose your first one yourself, from a wall of faces, and they arrive on your canvas with a free

Stardust Mine beside them.

After that they get on with it. They wander your board and sit near whatever card you've been using.

They nap in piles on your folders. They chase a ball, race each other and play hide and seek behind

your files. They make friends and rivals. They dig up treasure: a pebble, a ribbon, a star shard, and

once in a while something buried and worth having. After dark one of them is appointed night watchman.

They tend the campfire until dawn, then hand you the Stardust they gathered.

When a companion sleeps, a bubble appears above them with a scene moving inside it. It's not a

symbol; it's an actual little animated place. Click it to open it full size, and in many dreams you

can step inside as any companion you own.

Stardust comes from using your board and from your Stardust Mine, which keeps working even while

Limitlesscape is closed. It fills in about sixteen hours and then waits for you; it never overflows.

Spend Stardust to welcome more of the roster, buy games and camp gear, and open more roaming slots.

Some companions can't be bought at all. They carry a deed instead, something you have to actually do.

There are no microtransactions. Stardust can't be bought with money.

The built-in Character Workshop (not Steam Workshop) and its character editor let you make

companions of your own and remix the look of one you have. You can also import character packs

from files.

● When nothing on it is moving, the canvas paints no frames at all. Not a low frame rate; none.

● The animated wallpaper pauses while a fullscreen game or app covers all of your monitors (on by default).

● Win+Shift+D hides or shows the canvas from anywhere.

● Optional Start with Windows. One copy runs at a time.

A card is a pointer. Moving, arranging or removing a card never moves, copies, renames or deletes the

file. The few actions that do touch a real file, like Rename or Move to Recycle Bin, happen only when

you choose them.
