What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Soulreign is a deeply systems-driven game: dozens of collectible souls, hundreds of items, and a real-time combat engine where every piece interacts. Tuning all of that to feel fair and rewarding is not something a solo developer can do in a vacuum. The core game is complete and fully playable today, but I want real players shaping the balance, the difficulty curve, and what gets built next before I commit to a 1.0.
Early Access is how I do that with the community instead of guessing.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm aiming for a 1.0 release in roughly 6-12 months, though the exact timeline depends on the volume and direction of player feedback. I would rather take a little longer and get the balance right than rush the 1.0 label.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The biggest change will be balance: by 1.0 the combat, economy, and progression will have been tuned against real player data across every class and playstyle. On top of that, I plan for content to keep growing during Early Access: more souls to collect, more items and gear, additional areas and endgame challenges, and expanded social and competitive features. I'll prioritize that list based on what the community actually wants, so the 1.0 version is shaped as much by players as by me.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Soulreign is fully playable from start to finish right now. That includes:

- A real-time grid combat engine where you build a team of souls and gear, then watch your board fight it out
- 6 playable classes and 90+ collectible souls, each with their own abilities
- 10 areas to explore plus hub cities, with hundreds of items and pieces of gear to find
- The Descent, a roguelite run mode with escalating floors and reward ladders
- 6 crafting and gathering professions (smithing, alchemy, farming, cooking, herbalism, scribing) and a deep Forge upgrade system
- Async PvP with a ranked ladder, plus social features like global chat, player profiles, and a shared collaborative pixel canvas

The game is stable and content-complete for its core loop. Early Access is about refining and expanding it, not finishing it.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will increase slightly when the game leaves Early Access, so buying during Early Access is the best value and a direct way to support development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback drives this project. There is a built-in bug-report and feedback tool right in the game, so anything you hit or want to see reaches me directly. Beyond that I'll be active on the Steam community hub, reading discussions and reviews, posting regular development updates, and folding player feedback into balance patches and new content.”

About This Game

Soulreign is a collector auto-battler RPG where you don't pilot the fight, you build it. Every soul carries a customizable item grid, and the items are the abilities. You arrange them, then watch your team auto-fight in cinematic battles. Adjacency, element matchups, and class synergies decide who wins.

A solo-developed online RPG set in a fading mythic age where players hunt and collect legendary souls.

Build it, then watch it unfold

Inventory based auto-combat where item placement and synergy matter. Place a fire weapon beside a soul that feeds it, line up an element combo, lean into a class synergy, then let it resolve in a cinematic battle.

Bind a collection that is truly yours

  • 90+ legendary souls to hunt and collect

  • Bind a lost legend, give it a name, and it is yours for good. The world remembers it by that name. Got duplicates? Sell them to other players or scrap them for dust.

  • Gear every echo with loot that rolls its own stats and modifiers

  • A deep Forge: reinforce gear, socket gems, chase legendary regalia

A growing world worth contributing to

  • 10 campaign regions and 2 city hubs across the Unmaking, an unraveling mythic age

  • The Descent. A 15-floor sealed-draft roguelite run with its own relics and a between-floors shop

  • Ranked PvP. An async Elo ladder against other players' parties, for cosmetics and currency. No live opponent needed, ladder on your own schedule

  • Expeditions. Send souls out to earn XP and loot while you are offline

A living, player-driven world

  • A player-run Marketplace. Buy and sell loot and crafts with other Summoners, delivered by in-game mail

  • Six crafting professions feed your builds: Herbalism, Smithing, Alchemy, Farming, Cooking, and Scribing

  • The Canvas. A shared, r/place-style pixel board. Pure social, no stakes

  • Achievements, daily and weekly quests, and skill minigames

Try it before you buy it

Play the free demo with no time limit: the first 4 regions and the opening floors of the Descent. Your progress carries straight into the full game.

One purchase

Buy Soulreign once and play on Steam or in your browser with the same account. Progress syncs across both. No subscription, no loot boxes, no pay-to-win. A linked Steam account unlocks the full game.

Built in the open by one developer

Soulreign is made by one person who plays it daily and ships fixes fast. You are not a number to a studio, your bug report lands on the dev's desk. Report what you find, argue the balance, and tell me what to build next. The roadmap bends toward the people who play.

Good to know before you buy

Fair monetization. Buy Soulreign once. The only in-game purchase is Soul Shards, a currency for cosmetics and small conveniences (like renaming a soul with Shards instead of gold). Shards never buy power, levels, or extra souls, ever. They help fund servers and ongoing development.

Online only. Soulreign is an online game. Your roster, the marketplace, and the ladder live on shared servers, so a constant internet connection and a free account are required, solo play included. There is no offline mode yet. If the online service is ever discontinued, we will give at least 30 days' notice and release a community-hostable build for owners, so the souls you named do not disappear with us.

What you are buying. Purchasing Soulreign grants you a license to play the game. It is not a transfer of ownership, and access may end if we discontinue the online service. The full license terms are in our End User License Agreement, shown at install, and in the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

As a solo developer several of the art assets used during the development of the game are generated using AI models with art references. Should the game be successful it is my hope to slowly start using commissioned art.
