About This Game

You couldn't save them. So you try to preserve them.

Someone deer to you had to leave in a hurry. There was a note on the kitchen table: take care of the cucumbers, you know how important they are to me. Fix the broken bench when you have time. I want to sit there when I get back.

Arriving on a sunny day. You plant. You water. You pickle. You keep busy.

The farm needs tending. There is always something that needs tending.

But the flesh keeps on growing where it shouldn't. And every morning, there is more of it.

Tend the Farm

Work a real daily farming routine: plow plots, plant seeds, water, harvest cucumbers, collect eggs, seal pickling jars. The work is repetitive on purpose. Routine is grounding. Watching it break is the horror.

Talk to the Pickles

The jars on your shelf are not quiet. Unable to move, the pickles have had a lot of time to think about what you do when everything around you is being destroyed and if there really is nothing you can do about it. Some rage. Some philosophize. Some find the bright side. One just screams. They are goofy.

Watch the Rot Spread

A purple, pulsing corruption creeps across the land between every dawn. Scrape it away and it just keeps on coming back again and again. Hide your face, plug your ears, run away, you cant stop it. The rot is not a puzzle to solve. It is something to endure.

Explore a Land Already Dying

An isolated homestead at the foot of Bohemia's sandstone cliffs but the cliffs have company. Mining towers squat on the ridge. A lake sits in the valley where ground used to be, eaten out from underneath by decades of excavation. The creek runs the color of rust. The trees at the forest's edge are already already bare, stripped long before autumn by smoke that settled in like a second sky.

This is the 1980s Black Triangle. The land was sick before you got here. The purple rot spreading through your plots is just the latest thing wrong with this place. The mountains are still beautiful. You remember when the air was clean.

Choose How You Grieve

Suddenly the routine is gone. The farm is gone. Find what started this. And then decide:

Do you burn it all down and let go? Or do you seal it, preserve it, protect it from ever changing again?

One ending will sit right.

The other will leave a sour taste in your mouth.

• 60-90 minute single-sitting experience

• Two endings: one about preservation, one about acceptance

• No death screen, no fail state: this is a story about inevitability, not skill

• Talking pickles: five of them, each with a different philosophy on helplessness

• A deer prophet that speaks in rhyme

• PS1-era low-poly aesthetic

• Boss fight: a house-sized corrupted cucumber. It earned it.
