About This Game

The Gavel Falls in Gallows & Gold

Sentence the guilty and spare the innocent—or do the opposite. Set in a grim medieval era, Gallows & Gold is a hand-etched judgment simulator where your verdicts carry the weight of life and death. Navigate corruption, law, and your own morality in a world crafted entirely in pen and ink.

The Gavel is Yours.

The King is fading, the treasury is dry, and the people are hungry. You have been appointed to the High Court of Anglia—not to find the truth, but to maintain the peace. In a kingdom where the "King’s Rot" consumes the crown and the Church demands its pound of flesh, justice is a luxury the realm can barely afford.

Key Features

The Weight of Judgment: Every morning, the doors creak open to reveal a new soul seeking mercy or a new villain deserving of the rope. You are the final arbiter. No decision is easy. Review evidence, listen to pleas, and weigh the testimonies of the desperate. Every sentence you scrawl reshapes the kingdom's future—affecting the economy, public order, and your own standing with the crown.

Based on Real History: Preside over trials inspired by actual medieval court records. From frantic farmers accusing their livestock of witchcraft to where pigs were prosecuted for murder, no two cases are the same. You will face the same bizarre dilemmas as judges of the Middle Ages.

Judge the Absurd & The Grim:

Analyse the Evidence: Sift through the Evidence Ledger to find the truth, or ignore it entirely if the bribe is high enough.

Declare the Sentence: One click decides it all. Guilty feeds the gallows and satisfies the Crown’s bloodlust.

Innocent offers mercy but risks a riot from a restless, superstitious public.

The Impossible Balance

Your bench is a scales of three weights: The Crown, The Church, and The Commoners.

Rule for the King to keep your head, even if the laws grow more erratic as the Rot takes hold.

Rule for the Priest to keep the Church’s favour, or risk being branded a heretic yourself.

Rule for the People to stop the city from burning, even if it leaves the royal coffers empty.

Beyond the Courtroom

When the candles low, the trial ends, but the game continues in your Private Chambers.

Rewrite the Law: Use your Law Ledger to toggle the decrees of the land. Make the "Tax on Bastardy" a reality or mandate archery practice for every peasant.

Reap the Rewards: Reinvest your gold into the Judicial Estate. Upgrade your execution equipment to ensure "efficiency," or build labour camps to turn convicts into currency.

Medieval Moral Complexity: Navigate a world of deep political intrigue. Will you uphold the strict letter of the law, or will you accept "gold" to look the other way? In the medieval era, justice is rarely blind, and the truth is often a matter of perspective.

The Kingdom: Every choice you make carries a compounding weight. Will your judgements lead the land to flourish in a golden era, or spark an immenent demise?

Branching Narratives: Your verdicts have ripples. Sparing a thief might lead to a rebellion; hanging a saint might lead to a miracle. Witness the long-term consequences of your judgments across multiple playthroughs and endings.

The evidence is thin, the rope is thick, and the King is waiting. What is your verdict?
