About This Game

BUILD A PARTY. COMMAND A SINGLE DECK

Mirrorbane is a party-based RPG with roguelike and deckbuilding elements set in a dark fantasy world.

Recruit unusual heroes—nagas, werewolves, ghouls, mighty war bears, winged battle bards, and other creatures that would be enemies in most games. Choose five heroes for each expedition. Every hero has their own stats, combat role, and signature card.

The entire party fights using a shared deck. Replacing even one hero changes the available cards and possible combinations. During an expedition, add new cards to your deck, discover relics and potions, and build a strategy around your chosen five.

STRENGTH IS WEAPON, ARMOR, AND POSITION

Combat revolves around Strength—a single stat with three functions. It increases melee damage, absorbs damage from melee attacks before Block or Health is reduced, and determines who moves to the front when the formation shifts at the start of each round.

When a hero attacks, their current Strength is spent. A devastating strike may break the enemy formation, but leave your strongest fighter exhausted—and at the start of the next round, they will likely fall back. Every attack is therefore also a positioning choice: strike now, or conserve Strength and hold the front line.

THREE CLASSES. THE FORMATION CHANGES EVERY ROUND

Warriors must break through the enemy’s Strength on the front line. Archers and Mages bypass it and damage Block and Health directly. Some cards affect a specific hero, others an entire class, and some the whole party at once.

Protect fragile ranged fighters behind a sturdy front line, focus on Archers and overwhelming volleys, or bring five Mages and find the card that makes them attack simultaneously. You never move heroes manually: played cards and spent Strength reshape the formation from round to round.

DEVELOP VETERANS. ROTATE THE ROSTER

The Tavern offers far more heroes than you can take on a single expedition. Five go into the darkness; the others recover, train, or wait for their turn.

Heroes may return wounded or afflicted by disease. Treatment in the Hospital and promotion in the Arsenal both take time, and in either case the hero will miss the next expedition. Your favorite five will not always be available.

Promotion permanently improves a hero’s stats. It also unlocks either a Talent card, which is added to the shared deck whenever that hero joins an expedition, or a unique relic with a passive effect.

Over time, you develop the entire roster rather than sending the same team out again and again.

YOUR COMPANIONS HAVE OPINIONS OF THEIR OWN

Your companions do more than fight. Their personalities determine which choices become available during encounters on the road.

When the party encounters a cracked bell in the middle of a swamp, a dwarf may want to tear out the clapper, a sorceress may suggest ringing it gently, and Walter may decide to headbutt the bell. Bring different heroes, and the same encounter may offer different solutions—or entirely new problems.

PREPARE IN THE CITY. DESCEND INTO THE DARKNESS

Between expeditions, your base is a rain-soaked city. Recruit heroes in the Tavern, heal wounds and diseases in the Hospital, promote veterans in the Arsenal, upgrade cards in the Forge, study relics in the Reliquary, and restock supplies from the Merchant.

Assemble a new party, choose your five, and venture back into the darkness.

PvP BATTLES

Challenge another player in tactical, turn-based combat. Every match begins before the first attack.

Both players enter the Tavern and compete for heroes in a live auction. Outbid your opponent to secure key recruits—or adapt your strategy if your opponent recruits them first.

Spend your remaining gold on cards, relics and potions before leading your squad into battle. Every match is shaped by the choices you make before the first turn.

FEATURES

  • One party, one deck. Command up to five heroes using a single shared deck—without separate hands for each character.

  • A full roster of unusual heroes. Recruit nagas, werewolves, ghouls, war bears, winged bards, and other characters with their own stats, combat roles, and signature cards.

  • Strength with three functions. It powers melee attacks, absorbs melee damage, and determines who stands in front after the formation shifts.

  • Classes with different rules. Warriors break through Strength, while Archers and Mages bypass it.

  • Cards for individuals and the whole party. Make a single fighter, an entire class, or the whole party act with one card.

  • A constantly changing lineup. Adapt your party while wounded heroes recover and veterans are promoted.

  • Individual hero progression. Improve stats and unlock either a Talent card or a unique relic with a passive effect.

  • Roster-dependent events. Companions propose their own solutions, so the same encounter can unfold in different ways.

  • A city that shapes the next expedition. Recruit, heal, promote, upgrade cards, and prepare for the next run.

  • Expressive pixel art in a dark fantasy style. Characters, enemies, and combat effects remain clear and readable even in the heat of battle.
