What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Everbrink is a 4X roguelike deckbuilder, a new genre with no established playbook for balancing it. During Early Access, we'll keep improving the balance and quality of life based on your feedback. We'd love to grow this game together with you.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last about six months to a year. When it ends will depend on how development goes, and we'll announce it as soon as it's decided.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We're planning to add new leaders, units, cards, relics, Events, enemies, and ways to play, along with improved graphics and sound, better balance, controls, and in-game text, and support for more languages.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“For details, please see the "About This Game" section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price after Early Access ends.”

About This Game

Your goal is to survive as the ground falls away, with the paladin Alethea and her companions at your side. Play cards from your hand to summon units such as elves and Cerberus, and put structures and spells to work. Cut down the skeletons and zombies closing in, and bring down the enemy stronghold. The floating island you fight on crumbles away behind you every turn and keeps shrinking, but destroy the stronghold and you can join a new island to yours, making it bigger. To survive, you have to keep pushing forward.

Everbrink is the 4X roguelike deckbuilder. Explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate, all through your cards.

The Collapse spares nothing

There's no resisting the Collapse. The units you've invested in and the structures that give your side an edge are all dragged down with it. But the same goes for the enemy. Tiles due to fall are marked in advance, so get the timing right and you can send enemies to their deaths without lifting a finger.

Surviving on the battlefield

Your units and structures on the island make up your Territory. Any new unit or structure must be placed next to one that's already there. To push the front line forward, you have to expand your Territory.

Playing cards takes resources in four colors. Send units onto tiles such as forests and seas to secure resources of the matching color. Build a logging camp in a forest or a fishery on the sea, and you'll gather resources more efficiently. Do you build up a stockpile and then storm in all at once, or rush the enemy early? That comes down to your tactics.

Direct Assault sends a unit from your hand straight at an adjacent enemy

You don't just place units and then move them. If an enemy is next to your Territory, a unit card in your hand can attack it directly. That's a Direct Assault. Defeat the target, and the unit can step onto the board right where the enemy stood. It's an attack and a placement in one move, and if it lands, you come out well ahead.

Island joins island, and the fight goes on

Bring down the enemy stronghold before the Collapse catches you, and the next island joins yours, giving you more ground. Some islands have wildly lopsided resources, and some harbor enemies stronger than you'd expect, so choose your next island carefully. Your structures and your deck carry over as they are, but the units you've summoned are cleared from the board when the islands join.

Events on the board grow your deck mid-battle

A new island may have Events on it. A Cairn lets you pick a card to add to your deck, an Altar upgrades one of your unit cards, and a Trader sells items that can break a stalemate. Unlike most deckbuilders, Everbrink has you trigger Events on your turn, in the middle of the fight. A card gained from an Event goes on top of your draw pile. It reaches your hand on your next draw, so it can help rebuild a front line that's buckling.

Even in a crumbling world, there is a future to build.
