What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Why Early Access?

HORDES OF WAR is built around a massive, evolving war where player decisions directly shape the fate of Ossengard. With 10 races, over 120 classes, and a persistent territory conquest system, the full vision of the game is ambitious—and Early Access allows us to build it alongside the community.

At launch, the core systems are already in place: large-scale siege battles, territory progression, resource-driven strategy, and class-based gameplay. However, we are actively expanding and refining key features such as class balance, additional abilities, map variety, AI defenders, and deeper strategic systems.

Early Access gives players the opportunity to:

Help shape the balance of over 120 classes
Influence the evolution of the persistent world map
Provide feedback on siege mechanics and large-scale battles
Participate in testing new content, features, and systems as they are developed

Our goal is to create a living war experience that grows over time. Community feedback is essential to achieving the scale, depth, and balance that HORDES OF WAR is designed for.

If you want to be part of building a massive, faction-driven war from the ground up, Early Access is your chance to join the fight and help shape the future of Ossengard.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect HORDES OF WAR to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 24 months.

This timeline allows us to expand content, refine balance across 120+ classes, improve large-scale siege systems, and continue building out the persistent world of Ossengard based on community feedback.

The exact duration may change depending on development progress and player input. Our priority is to ensure the game reaches a polished and complete state rather than rushing to full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of HORDES OF WAR will include the core gameplay experience: large-scale siege battles, the territory conquest system, multiple playable races, and a wide selection of classes. However, the full version is planned to significantly expand and refine every aspect of the game.

Planned improvements for the full release include:

Expanded class roster with deeper abilities, specialization paths, and improved balance
Additional maps, kingdoms, and more varied siege environments
Enhanced AI for defenders, NPC units, and battlefield dynamics
More advanced resource systems and strategic depth
Improved animations, visuals, sound design, and overall polish
New gameplay features, modes, and long-term progression systems

The full version will deliver a more complete, balanced, and content-rich war experience, shaped heavily by community feedback gathered during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of HORDES OF WAR is fully playable and includes the core systems that define the game: large-scale siege battles, faction-based warfare, the territory conquest system, and a wide selection of playable races and classes.

Players can participate in full matches across multiple territories, experience the Great Divide starting battle, capture castles, manage resources, and engage in class-based combat with Engineers, Commanders, Healers, and more. The foundation of the persistent world map and progression system is already in place and actively functioning.

However, the game is still in active development. Players may encounter bugs, balance issues, incomplete animations, and missing features. Some systems—such as advanced AI behavior, additional classes, deeper progression, and expanded maps—are still being developed or refined.

As with all Early Access titles, the game should be purchased and played based on its current state, not on future promises .

We are continuously updating the game with improvements, fixes, and new content, with a strong focus on community feedback to guide development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to offer HORDES OF WAR at a lower price during Early Access to reward early supporters who help shape the game’s development.

As new content, features, classes, and systems are added—and the game moves closer to its full release—the price will increase to reflect the expanded scope and overall experience.

Players who purchase the game during Early Access will receive all future updates and the full version at no additional cost.

Any planned price changes will be communicated clearly in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is a core part of developing HORDES OF WAR. Because the game features large-scale warfare, a persistent world map, and over 120 classes, real player input is essential for balancing and refining the experience.

We will actively involve the community through:

Regular updates and patch notes based on player feedback
Community polls to help decide balance changes, new features, and territory mechanics
Playtests and experimental builds where players can try upcoming systems early
Direct feedback channels via Steam discussions and Discord
Ongoing class balance adjustments using real gameplay data

Players will directly influence how classes evolve, how the territory conquest system is balanced, and how large-scale battles feel over time.

Our goal is to build HORDES OF WAR with the community, not just for them—ensuring the final game reflects the scale, strategy, and intensity that players want.”
