About This Game

Your name was scrawled in stone at the bottom of the Well of Kings. The right to rule is yours alone.

Start with nothing but the clothes on your back, and the fire of imperial ambition burning within your soul. Gather resources to craft the tools and weapons which will grant you conquest. Recruit the people of Pyre in your efforts, to hunt, harvest, fight and die at your behest.

No scripted events, everything in-game happens as a result of your actions. Will you raid and pillage for resources? Or become a respected leader, amassing followers to aid your cause?

Core Systems:

  • Base Building

  • Crafting

  • High-Level Kingdom AI

  • Physics Destruction

  • Large-Scale Battles and Sieges

  • Emergent Events

  • Resource Management

  • Day/Night Cycle

  • Diverse Combat Styles

Weapons, Tools, and Combat

Start with knocking two rocks together to produce a handaxe, and work your way up to crossbows and artillery. Boundrystone follows the "Human Tech Tree" from neolithic tools to late medieval machinations.

Unlock new resources as you conquer new regions, from bronze axes to steel swords. You may find it unwise to do away with the old tools so quickly, as progress is not linear. Some of the earliest weapons and warriors in the game will remain fierce and formidable as you close in on your final enemy.

There are two damage systems: Damage and Destruct.

Damage affects living characters, while Destruct affects structures. However, a sufficient amount of destruction may obliterate your enemies just the same.

The Boundrystone Build System

Build your castles and villages from the ground up, with pillar-level control over every piece of architecture in the game. Destroy, repair, or replace any structure in Pyre - all are created with the same pieces accessible within your build menu.

Unlock new architectural styles and building materials as you conquer new regions - from wattle-and-daub and mud brick, to gothic chiseled stone - the system is built with creative freedom in mind.

All build segments are Fully Destructible, producing rubble that persists in-game and can be harvested as a resource at any point afterward (even by your enemies).

Player Stats, Social Stats, and Progression

You have only four stats: Blood, Bile, Phlegm, and Ichor.

  • Blood is a measure of vitality and health.

  • Bile is a measure of raw strength, aggression, and power.

  • Phlegm is a measure of resilience and fortitude.

  • Ichor is a measure of wisdom and cunning.

Every NPC also carries these four stats, which will determine how they behave and how they react to your behavior.

Your actions in any given Region will also change your Region Stats - Strength, Foothold, Wrath, and Guile - which determine how rival kingdoms respond to your actions.

NPCs & Kingdom AI

Pyre has a finite population of named NPCs with hard-coded attributes.

Each playthrough, these characters appear in different parts of the world and in different positions within the kingdom. The bandit you killed last game may be king of a rival kingdom the next game... will his disposition towards you be the same?

Each game starts with Five high-level Kingdom AI which inherit the stats of whatever character is put in charge. That characters disposition affects how the kingdom behaves in the world.

An aggressive Kingdom will expand and conquer, a wise Kingdom will gather resources, and steadfast Kingdom will build hearty defenses. The combination of each of these attributes will determine the events of the game.

Siege Mechanics

Pyre contains Ten Regions. Each region has a central city with a Keep and several outlying towns, fortresses, and outposts. Establish a Siege Camp within a region to begin gathering resources and manpower which will grant you victory in the large-scale siege. When the time is right, engage the siege in one epic battle to take the Keep and claim the region as your own.

As you progress, unlock new Siege Engines and Warrior Classes to aid in your conquest.

Conquest Mechanics

When a region is conquered, you gain the ability to direct and manage it's resources. Increase your Region Claim by weeding out bandit camps and enemy encroachment in an attempt to fortify your kingdom.

Resources gained in one region can be sent to another to help you on your campaign... but be forewarned, as your enemies now see your every move as a threat. Once a region is claimed, it becomes your job to defend it. Installing a Vassal can help, which functions similarly to the rival Kingdom AI but will (probably) act in your best interest. Victory is only the beginning.

Will you conquer the land of Pyre? Or will your head roll cleanly off of your neck - just like all the other Kings before you?
