What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Wanderfolk features AI-powered NPCs who have real conversations and form lasting opinions about you, a system that's genuinely new in farming RPGs. We want your feedback to shape how these relationships evolve, what features matter most, and how the world should grow.

Early Access lets us build Wanderfolk alongside the players who care about it most. Your feedback on game balance, pacing, and what makes village life feel alive will directly influence development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're targeting 6-12 months in Early Access. Our core gameplay loop is complete and playable now (tested by hundreds of players). The remaining work is adding content, polish, localization, and features shaped by community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The 1.0 release will include:

- Full localization (multiple languages)
- Steam Achievements integration
- Expanded crafting, quests, and NPC relationships
- Quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback
- Performance optimization and polish

We'll share our development roadmap on our website and Discord, and update it based on what players tell us matters most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Wanderfolk is fully playable with 20-40+ hours of content:

- Farming & foraging: grow crops, harvest wild plants, manage your farmstead
- AI-powered conversations: talk to villagers who remember everything and form real opinions
- Procedurally generated world: unique villages, dungeons, and biomes each playthrough
- Crafting system: craft tools, gear, and items at village stations
- Romance: build relationships that can lead to marriage
- Day/night cycle with combat: monsters emerge at night for those who want action (or stay safe in the village)
- 18 playable characters: choose your appearance at game start

The game is stable on Windows and macOS and playtested by hundreds of players. Some players may encounter occasional bugs, which we're actively fixing based on feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The Early Access price reflects the current state of the game. We expect to raise the price at 1.0 as we add more content and features. Players who buy during Early Access will receive all future updates at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“- Discord: Our primary hub for feedback, bug reports, and feature discussions. Join us and talk directly with the development team.
- Regular updates: We'll post development updates and changelogs so you can see what's changing.
- Public roadmap: We'll share our priorities and adjust them based on what players tell us matters.
- We read everything: Bug reports, suggestions, and feedback all get reviewed. Many Early Access changes will come directly from player input.”

About This Game

Villagers Who Actually Remember You

You arrive in a village where no one knows your name. By the time you leave, they'll either call you friend or warn their children about you.

Wanderfolk is a farming RPG where the villagers actually listen, remember, and judge. Every conversation matters. Every choice echoes through the community.

Actually Talk to the Villagers

This isn't scripted dialogue. Every villager is powered by AI that understands what you say, remembers past conversations, and responds like a real person.

Ask the blacksmith about his past. Confide in the innkeeper. Lie to the elder and hope she doesn't find out.

Villagers gossip. They share secrets, spread rumors, and form opinions about you based on what they've heard. Help one person, and others notice. Wrong someone, and word travels fast.

Your reputation isn't a number—it's how the village feels about you. And it changes everything: the jobs you're offered, the prices you pay, whether doors open or slam shut.

Build a Life Worth Living

Clear land. Plant seeds. Watch your farm grow from bare dirt to a thriving homestead. Craft tools at the forge, brew potions in the alchemy lab, cook meals that restore more than just hunger.

Trade your harvest at the village market. Haggle with merchants. Watch prices shift based on supply, demand, and how much the shopkeeper actually likes you.

With over 470 recipes to discover, there's always something new to create—and someone new to share it with.

Explore a World That's Yours Alone

Every playthrough generates a unique world. Nine distinct biomes—from misty groves to volcanic peaks—each with their own villages, cultures, and secrets waiting to be discovered.

Choose from 18 characters, each with their own origin and starting home. The desert blade's story isn't the farm maiden's story. Your journey begins where you decide.

Survive the Night

Days are peaceful. Nights are not.

When darkness falls, creatures emerge from the shadows. Stay near torchlight or learn to fight—because the wilderness doesn't care about your reputation.

Descend into procedurally generated dungeons filled with puzzles, treasures, and bosses that will test everything you've learned. The rewards are worth the risk—if you make it back.

Find Your People

Some villagers will become friends. Others might become something more.

Share meals at the tavern. Walk together under the stars. Uncover their stories through conversations that feel real because they are—every word generated just for you.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Live in-game: NPC conversations are generated in real time by a large language model. Every dialogue you have with a villager is dynamically written rather than scripted, and NPCs remember what you've said to them across the playthrough. Conversations are filtered for safety, but as with any AI-generated text, responses may occasionally be unexpected.

Pre-rendered during development: Character and creature sprites, ambient music, and some background artwork were created with the assistance of generative AI tools and then hand-curated, edited, and integrated by the developer.
