About This Game

About Fretlore

Fretlore is a home for people who love guitars, art, and everything that comes with them. Plug in a guitar or bass, play and learn songs, practice techniques based on proven methods from around the world, shape your sound, track your progress, and compete with others. Everything is in one place, so you don't have to keep digging through countless confusing learning tools, resources, and services. Build your presence as a creator, learn to play as part of a band, and perform for a real live audience.

Fretlore supports a wide range of string configurations: 6–9-string electric guitars and 4–8-string basses, with fine control over settings such as fret count, tuning, and much more. Your instrument connects through an ASIO-compatible audio interface. FretDriver detects the notes you play in real time, while the built-in DSP processes the guitar signal directly inside the game, with no perceptible latency.

The idea is simple: minimize the number of steps between picking up your instrument and actually playing it. The goal is to help you better understand how you interact with the guitar, build a more effective practice routine, and keep improving no matter your current skill level.

Everything you learn in Fretlore stays with you beyond the game.

System Requirements

Windows
macOS
    Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB / AMD Radeon RX 570 4 GB
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 40 GB available space
    • Sound Card: USB audio interface with a Hi-Z instrument input and ASIO driver (e.g. Focusrite Scarlett Solo/2i2, Audient iD4 MKII/iD14 MKII, MOTU M2, SSL 2 MKII, Universal Audio Volt 1/2, Arturia MiniFuse 1/2, Behringer UMC202HD/UMC204HD, M-Audio M-Track Solo/Duo, IK Multimedia AXE I/O ONE, or equivalent).
    • Additional Notes: Note tracking is designed for properly set-up electric guitars and basses, including affordable entry-level instruments, connected through a compatible USB audio interface. Premium pickups are not required, and typical pickup noise, including familiar single-coil hum, is accounted for in the recognition design. Adjustable DSP and analog-modelled effects bring the character of traditional guitar rigs into a flexible digital signal chain. I/O buffer options of 32, 64, 128, 256 and 512 samples balance responsiveness and processing headroom, subject to device and driver support. Actual round-trip latency depends on converters, drivers, sample rate and buffer configuration; stable low-buffer performance depends on real-time CPU headroom and system load. Final system requirements are subject to change before release.
