About This Game

About Fretlore

Fretlore is a home for people who love guitar, music, and art. It’s a place where you can come, plug in a real instrument, and just play: learn your favorite songs, practice techniques and pentatonic scales, find your own sound, compete, track your progress, and share music with others.

The game works with a real electric guitar via an ASIO-compatible audio interface. FretDriver technology recognizes the notes you play in real time, while the game’s own DSP processor handles the guitar signal directly inside the game. You can adjust the latency depending on the capabilities of your computer and audio interface.

Fretlore has its own music environment, where you can build and customize your signal chain using effects pedals, amplifiers, guitar cabinets, and other elements to create the sound you want.

Fretlore is more than just learning songs. Progress, achievements, detailed metrics, and rankings turn playing a real instrument into a gaming experience. You can play for yourself, practice before a performance, stream, or compare your results with other guitarists.

The game handles the drums and bass — the guitar part is yours. All you need is a guitar, a cable, and an audio interface.

Fretlore is currently in active development and will grow alongside its community: more music, gear, gameplay mechanics, and ways to interact with one another. In the long term, the vision extends beyond guitar — to create a space where musicians playing different instruments can perform, compete, and showcase their skills, regardless of their audience or popularity.

The idea behind Fretlore is simple: bring together in one place everything that makes you want to pick up your instrument again.
