About This Game

Gather the elements. Open the portals. Outshine your rival.

In a world where raw magic drifts on the wind, the old portals lie dormant — waiting for a mage with the patience to coax them open. Each turn you reach into the swirling Animus and draw the elements of creation: Air, Earth, Fire, Life, Shadow, and Water. Channel them into your crystals, feed them into sleeping portals, and watch the gateways blaze to life one by one. The first archmage to bind their power to seven portals brings the contest to its end — but raw count is never enough. Only the sharpest planner walks away with the highest glory.

Magic Portals is a fast, elegant card game of elemental drafting and tactical scoring. Easy to learn in a single match, deep enough to chase for a hundred more.

Draw the Animus

At the heart of every turn is the Animus — a shared pool of elemental energy that every mage draws from. Pull symbols one by one and decide how far to press your luck: stop early and play it safe, or keep drawing to fuel a bigger play. The elements you gather become crystals, which you place onto the symbol slots of waiting portal cards. Match a portal's full requirement and it ignites — claimed, scored, and yours.

Six true elements flow through the Animus — Air, Earth, Fire, Life, Shadow, and Water — alongside rare Wildcards that bend to whatever you need most.

Four Colors of Magic

  • Blue — Attunement. Permanent portals that teach a chosen element to act as a wildcard for the rest of the match. Open them early and every future play gets easier.

  • Purple — Power. Pure, demanding portals worth the highest raw points. No tricks, just glory for the mage who can pay their price.

  • Green — Foresight. Quiet portals that score nothing now but multiply at the very end — rewarding you for the elements you hoard and the portal colors you collect. Plant them early, reap them late.

  • Yellow — Sorcery. Instant bursts of magic: conjure crystals from nowhere, place them anywhere, rearrange the board, or tear open extra portals on the spot. The improviser's school.

Layer the schools together — Blue to fuel, Yellow to accelerate, Purple for the heavy haul, Green to cash it all in — and a clean engine starts to hum.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Open the Portals

Build your tableau, complete portals, and chase the bonus rewards that crown a well-rounded strategy: extra points for finishing whole color sets, and escalating rewards for the sheer number of portals you light up. Reaching seven completed portals triggers the final reckoning — then every Green effect resolves, every bonus is tallied, and the mage with the highest score is named victor.

There's no hiding behind luck here. The Animus is shared, the board is open, and every point is earned by the choices you make.

Game Modes

  • Single-player vs AI. Hone your craft against a capable computer opponent — perfect for learning the schools, testing a new strategy, or playing offline whenever you like.

  • Online Multiplayer. Challenge real mages in head-to-head duels on a fair, server-authoritative match engine. Same rules, same draws, no cheating — pure skill on both sides of the table.

  • Ranked Matchmaking. Step into timed competitive matches and prove where you stand. Classic turn timers keep duels sharp and decisive.

Why You'll Stay

  • Five minutes to learn, ages to master — simple rules, layered decisions.

  • Every match is different — a shifting central row and a shared element pool mean no two games play the same.

  • Skill over luck — open information and shared draws reward planning, not fortune.

  • Quick, clean duels — built for "just one more game."

The portals are waiting. Will you be the one to open them?
