About This Game

The Internet is territory.

CYBERLIFE is a hacking MMO played through a terminal. Explore a persistent network, breach the organizations that inhabit it, and fight other operators for control of its routes.

You begin alone, safe inside localhost. Outside, every move exposes you. Your cargo can be intercepted, your access can burn, and the road home may belong to someone else.

Find your own way

There is no fully revealed map and no mission list. You only see the networks directly connected to your own, and you choose every hop.

Pay for fast but monitored transit. Search for discreet peering routes whose reach is still unknown. Chart the passages, watch who controls them, and uncover shortcuts you can keep, sell or see turned against you.

Read the target. Get in. Move deeper.

Every organization has its own posture: exposed services, configurations, internal network, habits, and surveillance. Observe what responds, spot what does not belong, and choose the entry whose consequences you are willing to face.

Once inside, move from machine to machine. Credentials found in one target may open a different company days later. Your keyring gradually becomes a second map of the world.

There is no detection meter. Your actions leave evidence. Some of it will cut your session immediately; some will only be understood after you are gone.

Bring home what you took

Stealing something is not enough. You still have to bring it back.

Choose when to move the data, which route to take, and how much to risk. Until you reach localhost, your loot and carried tools remain vulnerable. An operator who controls your passage may see you coming, wait for you, and walk away with your work.

Seize the crossroads

Companies are hunting grounds. Routes are territory.

Take control of an autonomous system to observe what crosses it, collect from its traffic, or close a gate. A vast network reveals a large share of the world. A small but well-placed transit network may be the only passage to a coveted target.

Open a route in exchange for a cut. Close it behind a rival. Lure someone into a passage you control. But every closed gate costs you money and publicly announces your intentions.

Build a reputation or avoid having one

CYBERLIFE has no levels and no imposed classes. Your power comes from what you know, the access you hold, the routes you have charted, your tools, and the positions you can maintain.

Sell access as a broker. Resurvey the network as a cartographer. Repackage other operators' burned tools. Run markets built on trust. Or seize the routes and make the world pay to cross them.

Your successes build your reputation. Repeated methods build a case against you. The more powerful you become, the harder you must work to remain unknown.

  • One persistent online world shared by every operator
  • A hand-authored network map discovered one hop at a time
  • Intrusions built around observation and lateral movement
  • Loot that remains vulnerable until it reaches localhost
  • Routes that players can watch, tax, close, and conquer
  • A player-driven economy where information and trust have a price
  • No levels, no classes, and no global detection meter

CYBERLIFE is played with a keyboard, but typing speed is never a skill. No previous cybersecurity knowledge is required, curiosity is enough.
