What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“One Dice Dungeon Delve (ODDD) was born from a simple physical prototype and has grown through the feedback of its initial community. Early Access allows us to refine the 'One Die' tactical balance and expand our class mechanics alongside active players. I want to ensure that every roll of the die feels fair, tense, and rewarding before our full 1.0 launch.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeframe will allow us to implement our planned content updates while remaining flexible enough to pivot based on community suggestions and playtesting data.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to feature a significantly expanded scope, including:
Additional character classes with unique tactical abilities.
New monster types and complex boss encounters like the Gelatinous Dice.
Expanded procedural generation algorithms for even more diverse dungeon topologies.
A fully integrated 'Community Baton' mode for sharing run states.
More visual loot tiers and legendary cosmetics.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a fully playable tactical roguelike featuring:
Four distinct classes (Knight, Archer, Berserker, Paladin) with functional special abilities.
A complete gameplay loop from Floor 1 to the final Red Dragon boss.
The 'Ghost' system for viewing and sharing player runs.
Global Steam Leaderboards and Daily Challenges.
A robust paper-doll system for visual equipment progression.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship major new content updates and features throughout the Early Access period. Early adopters will benefit from a lower entry price as a thanks for supporting the game's development journey.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is the heart of ODDD. We plan to:
Monitor Steam Community hubs and Discord for balance feedback and feature requests.
Run community-wide 'Daily Challenge' events to test new dungeon seeds.
Provide regular devlogs to keep players informed of every logic fix and new feature.
Allow players to influence new cosmetic designs through community polls.”

About This Game

This game started as a physical prototype on a sticky note and a single d6, One Dice Dungeon Delve (ODDD) captures the raw decision making of tabletop gaming. I wanted to see if I could capture the one more floor/one more run addictiveness of tabletop gaming in a physical format. In the end, an early python terminal project mirroring my game rules was a much better user experience and cut down on all the time that I would be rolling a D6 to generate the dungeon floor with tiles, loot, monsters and stairs. What started at my work has grown into a full-fledged adventure, tested rigorously and improved by an amazing community. No complex math just you, your strategy, and the roll of the die.

Every interaction, combat resolution, and loot drop is driven by the roll of a single d6.

True visual progression. The Layered sprite system ensures that every helmet, chestplate, sword, and cape you find is instantly reflected on your character sprite. Start your journey as a basic nobody and end it as an armor-clad legend.

ODDD isn't just about stats; it’s about tactical identity and class power fantasy. Choose the hero that fits your playstyle:

  • The Knight: Perfect your Parry. Automatically negate a strike and deliver a soulslike riposte once per floor.

  • The Archer: Piercing Shots and Rapid fire floor clearing. Line up your enemies to deal piercing damage through multiple enemies.

  • The Berserker: Fuel your Bloodlust. Gain temporary HP with every kill and chain-attack through multiple enemies.

  • The Paladin: Divine Aegis. The ultimate heavy-armor tank. Divine Aegis activates on a would-be death then a Shield Throw to crush foes across the room in a line using armor as damage.

  • The Brawler: Throw enemies into each other. Utilize the physics engine to grab, spin, and launch monster corpses as lethal projectiles.

  • The Gambler: The Dice Gambit. Risky gameplay. Activate Dice gambit to force all visible dice to home in and strike your enemies.

Death is only the beginning. Export your runs and share them with the community. Other players can then import your runs from the leaderboard to see your literal Ghost pathing through their dungeon. Learn from the board leaders or avoid the mistakes of the fallen.

This unique boss uses an "Absorption Slide" ability to launch itself down corridors, devouring monsters and loot to gain health and engage the player head on. It also comes in 5 colors!

  • One-Die Mechanics: A transparent combat system where every roll is visible and vital.

  • Procedural Mastery: Infinite dungeon generation that uses seeds to return to a specific dungeon layout.

  • Visual Loot: 50+ unique items that visually update on your hero in real-time.

  • Daily Challenges: Compete on global Steam leaderboards with a daily seed run.
