What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Rikogol is a multiplayer game, and the part I cannot finish alone is exactly the part real matches reveal: how the pitch feels at 5v5 and 11v11, whether the Head Coach role is genuinely useful to a team, and how the netcode behaves between strangers on different continents rather than between two machines on my desk. I would rather ship a small, honest, finished-feeling game now and shape what comes next around the people actually playing it than keep guessing in private for another year.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to spend roughly a year in Early Access. That is an estimate, not a promise: the game leaves Early Access when the online side stands on its own - matchmaking that puts you straight into a fair game, a competitive mode worth caring about, and a long stretch of stable play with real players. Those three decide it, not a date on a calendar.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The match itself is deliberately finished and I do not plan to add new mechanics to it - no extra abilities, no power-ups. What I plan to build around it: a ranked or competitive mode, more stadiums, and more languages. I also plan to keep tuning the Head Coach layer and the netcode with feedback from real matches.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable and whole as a game, small as a package. What is in it today: online matches from 1v1 up to 11v11 over Steam lobbies and Steam Relay, with a browser of open rooms you can filter by stadium and team size; the Head Coach role (formations, pings, arrows drawn on the pitch, kick votes); bots at three difficulty levels, playing offline in Versus Bots or filling empty seats in online rooms; two players on one PC in Versus Bots (sharing the keyboard or using controllers), with Steam Remote Play Together letting the second player join from their own PC; full controller support; an offline training pitch; host-side match settings (stadium, team size, score and time limits, kick strength, room password); lobby and in-match chat; 65 Steam Achievements; Steam Cloud for settings; accessibility options (colour-blind team palettes plus a high-contrast one, adjustable text size, separate volume sliders for match sounds and coach signals, stereo positional audio, keyboard-only menus, every control rebindable); English, Turkish, German, Russian, Portuguese-Brazil, Spanish-Latin America, French and Simplified Chinese. What is not in it yet: ranked play, more stadiums and more languages.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Rikogol is deliberately priced low during Early Access, because you are buying it early and unfinished. I plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access, to reflect what has been added by then. Anyone who buys during Early Access gets the full version at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Rikogol's Steam discussion boards are where I read and answer. I am one person, so I can be direct: report a bug there and it goes to the top of my list; ask for a change to the Head Coach layer or the match rules and you will get an honest yes or no with the reason. I plan to post what changed with every update, and to talk the bigger balance changes over on the boards before they ship.”

Reviews

“Rikogol is a superb arcade football game with fair physics. No fouls, no offsides, just pure skill. A cool feature is the coach role on the touchline. (translated from Russian)”
SOKOL- RUS — Steam Curator

“A pretty enjoyable football game with simple controls but a fun physics system. It's nice to play with bots or with friends. (translated from Turkish)”

About This Game

MOVE. KICK. SCORE.

Rikogol is arcade football you play online with your friends. Two controls — move and kick — and a physics core that does the rest: every pass, every bounce off the wall, every shot that kisses the post and goes in. No player stats, no dice rolls, no fouls, no offside. Win, and you earned it. Lose, and you know exactly why.

If you grew up on top-down physics football in a browser tab, you already know how to play. Now it lives on Steam — with lobbies, your friends list and a 24-player pitch.

NO FULL LOBBY? PLAY NOW

Training › Versus Bots is a real match you can play offline, halves and result screen included. Pick a team size from 1v1 to 11v11, the stadium, the score and time limits and the difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard bots fill the rest of your team and the whole other side. In online rooms, the host adds bots to either team or switches on “Fill Empty Seats with Bots”, and a friend who joins takes over a bot's seat on the spot, even mid-match. Bots only ever play on the pitch: they never take the Head Coach seat.

TWO PLAYERS, ONE PC

Grab a controller and a friend. In Training › Versus Bots, a second player can join offline on the same PC, with a controller or on the same keyboard: team up against Easy, Medium or Hard bots, or play against each other. You share one screen, with a camera that follows you both and the ball. With Steam Remote Play Together, the second player can even join from their own PC. Full controller support covers every menu, every match and the Head Coach seat in online matches, with Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers.

1v1 DUELS TO 11v11 DERBIES

Settle it one-on-one on a tiny pitch, run quick 3v3s, or pack a huge stadium with 22 players and a Head Coach on each side. Four stadiums, team sizes from 1 to 11, and the room's rules are yours: score limit, clock, kick strength, password.

BE THE HEAD COACH

Rikogol's own twist: one player per team can leave the pitch and run the team from the touchline. Switch the formation mid-match, drop pings on the grass — pass, push up, drop back — and draw arrows only your own team can see. The other side never receives them: the host filters them out before they leave.

FRIENDS ON THE PITCH IN SECONDS

  • Invite straight from your Steam friends list, or jump into an open room from the match browser
  • Steam Relay under the hood: no port forwarding, no extra account, no setup
  • Up to 24 people in one match — 22 on the pitch, a Head Coach on each side
  • Lobby and in-match chat

EVERY GOAL FEELS LIKE A FINAL

Night floodlights, midday sun, golden sunset, snow or rain: five atmospheres, take your pick. The more players, the fuller the stands — and when the ball hits the net, the fans behind it erupt. Every player on the pitch carries a name and a shirt number, and the scorer's name lands on the goal banner.

AND ALSO

  • 65 Steam Achievements
  • Training any time: sharpen your shots solo, or take on bots
  • Colour-blind team palettes and a high-contrast mode
  • Atmospheres change only your own screen — nobody can make it rain on a rival
  • Every control rebindable, menus playable with the keyboard alone
  • Steam Cloud keeps your settings on every machine
  • 8 languages: English, Türkçe, Deutsch, Русский, Português (Brasil), Español (Latinoamérica), Français, 简体中文
