What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer, Combat Playground is a massive undertaking. A physics-based fighting game relies heavily on balancing 'chaos' vs 'frustration,' and I need real players to break the game so I can fix it. I want to build the features you actually find fun.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to release updates monthly. Since I am a one-person team, major features may take time, but I am active on Discord and transparent about my roadmap.

I plan to be in Early Access for approximately 6 to 9 months. This could change depending on the feedback I receive and the scope of new features the community requests.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to feature more arenas with a wider variety of interactive traps, and additional weapons. I also plan to release Modding Support as soon as the main gameplay loop is stable and satisfying enough.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“There is one arena. Local and Online Multiplayer are implemented and working. The 'no health bar' limb-breaking system is complete, though I'm still tweaking the impact thresholds for balancing.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price is planned to significantly increase on full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I have an active Discord server where I will host polls for new weapons and map hazards. Because physics glitches can be hilarious or frustrating, I will rely on the community to send us clips of odd behaviours so I can turn the fun ones into features and fix the game-breaking ones. I read every review and discussion thread to steer the direction of the chaotic gameplay.”

About This Game

FORGET HEALTH BARS. BREAK BONES.

Combat Playground is a physics-based fighting game where damage isn't a number, it's a consequence! There are no health bars. There are no hit points. There is only structural integrity.

When you take a hit, you don't lose "10 HP." You lose the use of your arm. You lose your balance. You lose the fight.

PHYSICS-DRIVEN CARNAGE

Every punch, kick, and slam is calculated in real-time. Connect with a heavy swing, and you won't just see a flash of light—you’ll feel the impact as your opponent's physics rig reacts dynamically.

  • Procedural Damage: Snap a leg, and your enemy will limp or crawl. Shatter an arm, and they drop their weapon.

  • Ragdoll Accuracy: Momentum matters. Use speed and weight to deliver crushing blows that send opponents flying.

MULTIPLAYER MAYHEM

Grab a friend (or an enemy) and step into the arena. Combat Playground is built for competitive chaos.

  • Local & Online Multiplayer: Settle grudges in 1v1 duels or free-for-all brawls.

  • Interactive Environments: The arena is your weapon. Kick enemies into saw blades, toss them off ledges, or slam them into walls.

  • Weapon Variety: From precise swords to heavy blunt objects, every weapon carries a different weight and impact style.

A TRUE SANDBOX FIGHTER

This isn't about memorising complex combos. It's about spacing, timing, and improvisation.

  • Easy to Pick Up: Simple controls mean anyone can start swinging.

  • Hard to Master: Understanding the physics engine allows for creative takedowns and defensive manoeuvres that scripted animations can't match.
