What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Modificator's core loop - loot economy, gunplay balance, AI bot behavior, extraction risk/reward only gets tuned right under real player pressure, not solo playtesting.

We're also still building out the content pipeline: more maps, weapons, and gear are planned beyond what's in the build today, and Early Access funds and paces that work.

On top of that, our multiplayer netcode and matchmaking need a wider player base than internal testing can provide to surface desync, connection, and squad-play issues at real scale.

We're committed to actively developing the game through Early Access, listening to feedback, and letting the community help shape priorities. this is a long-term commitment through to a full 1.0 release, not a snapshot we're walking away from.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 6–12 months, depending on what balance and content work player feedback surfaces along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to build significantly on the foundation that's in the game today.
On the content side, we plan to add more maps beyond what's currently available, expand the weapon and gear pool, and grow the faction/reputation system with more quests and vendor options.

We plan to expand the bot AI with more enemy variety and behavior, and to build out endgame progression and warehouse/crafting depth so there's more to work toward between raids. We also plan to keep iterating on core systems, like gunplay balance, armor and damage tuning, the loot economy, and matchmaking/netcode stability based on what Early Access playtime and feedback show us.

Our overall goal for the full release is a broader, more polished version of the same extraction-shooter core: more places to raid, more ways to gear up, and a deeper moment-to-moment loop, shaped along the way by community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core extraction-shooter loop is fully playable: deploy into a raid solo or with a squad, loot and fight, and either extract with your gear or lose it on death.

Currently implemented:
- Multiplayer extraction raids with squad/party play
- A full inventory and gear system - multi-grid inventory, armor and weapon loadouts, and a secure storage slot that's never at risk
- Gunplay with headshot damage, armor mitigation, and a weapon overheat mechanic
- Real stakes: die and lose your loadout, extract and keep what you looted plus your worn gear
- A persistent stash/warehouse between raids, with reputation, crafting, and hub services
- AI bots that play like real players - looting, fighting, and extracting in squads alongside separate hostile creatures
- A dynamic weather system with a lightning hazard that forces players to seek shelter
- A kill cam replay on death or kill”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add new maps, weapons, and features during Early Access, and may adjust it again at full 1.0 launch to reflect the complete scope of the game at that point.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're setting up a Discord server and will link it here once it's live. In the meantime, the Steam Community Hub is where we're reading feedback and bug reports. Player input is what we'll use to tune the loot economy, weapon/armor balance, AI difficulty, and which maps or features come next.”
