A competitive online obstacle racer for two to four players. Sprint, jump and climb through physics-driven courses while carrying a fragile egg that shatters on impact. Trigger trap crates, shove rivals off ledges, and finish with your egg intact for full points, or empty-handed for half.

Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Splatt is an online multiplayer game, and multiplayer is very difficult to develop in isolation. Things like connection stability, host handling, course difficulty and trap balance only reveal themselves when real groups of players are racing against each other on a wide range of hardware and connections. Early Access lets us build the rest of the game with those players involved, rather than guessing at how it behaves outside our own tests.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access. The Early Access price is lower to reflect that the game is not yet complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the game in several directions during Early Access.

Content: we plan to add more courses beyond the two currently available, with more varied terrain and hazards, and to expand the wardrobe with additional clothing items and colours, including the accessory slot.

Mechanics: we plan to introduce prestige cargo — special eggs with their own behaviour, such as ones that detonate on impact. These would never hurt a player, but would shove anyone nearby off course and splatter their egg in the process. We also plan to add further traps and perks to the wildcard pool, expand session options such as round counts and course selection, and add systems that keep racers honest about staying on the track.

Presentation: we plan to complete a full audio and visual effects pass, covering sound for traps, perks, pickups, drops and the countdown, along with additional feedback effects throughout the game.

Technical: we plan to improve performance across a wider range of hardware and to continue improving multiplayer stability and connection handling.

We also plan to spend a significant part of the remaining time on balance tuning, bug fixing and general polish based on how the game is actually played.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable online for two to four players. All core systems are implemented: two courses, the fragile-cargo carrying mechanic with splat decals, physics-based running, sprinting and jumping, randomised wildcard boxes containing four traps and four perks, three-round scored sessions with placement points, the Drips currency, the wardrobe cosmetic system with cloud-saved outfits, and Steam multiplayer with a server browser and password-protected private lobbies.

The current courses are open, natural environments rather than tight obstacle gauntlets — the route is straightforward to walk, and the challenge comes from carrying your egg intact, the wildcard boxes, and the other players. Building more demanding courses is a major part of the remaining work.

Because the game is still in development, expect rough edges: known bugs, systems that are not yet optimised, an incomplete audio and visual effects pass, and balance values that are still being tuned. There is no single-player mode; the game requires at least two players.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will increase when the game leaves Early Access. The initial price is lower to reflect that the game is incomplete.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to read the Steam forums and bug reports closely, and to use them to find technical issues, connection problems and balance that needs adjusting. Player feedback on course difficulty, trap balance and which cosmetics people want is especially useful to us, and we plan to let it influence what we prioritise.”

About This Game

Overview

Splatt is a competitive online obstacle racer for two to four players, built on one cruel idea: you have to carry something fragile to the finish line, and everything about the course wants to make you drop it.

Every racer is handed an egg. Get it to the finish intact and you score full points. Show up empty-handed and you score half. There is no team, no shared objective and nobody to blame — the player who moves cleanest across three rounds wins the session, and every broken egg leaves a coloured splat on the track that stays there for the rest of the night as evidence.

The Core Tension: Speed vs. Cargo

Splatt is a race, but it is not a game about being fastest. It is a game about how much risk you can carry.

  • Fragile by design — a hard enough impact and your egg is gone, splattering a permanent decal in your own colour at the exact spot you failed.

  • Big air costs you — stay airborne too long and the landing shakes the egg out of your hands. The dramatic shortcut jump is often the losing move.

  • Finish empty and take the hit — you can always sprint the rest of the course after breaking your egg, but you'll only bank half the points. Deciding whether to protect your cargo or abandon it and chase position is the whole game.

Movement

A physics-driven character, not a character on rails. You run, sprint and jump through open, natural courses where momentum and contact with the world are real, and where recovering a bad landing is a skill in itself. Going faster is always available to you. Whether your egg survives it is another question.

Wildcards

Each course seeds a batch of wildcard boxes before every round, and their contents are rolled fresh each time — so a route you memorised last round can betray you this one. Roughly a third turn out to be traps. Each box can catch every player once per round, so watching a rival hit one tells you exactly what's waiting for you.

Traps

  • Stun — your controls lock up for three seconds, mid-course, wherever you happen to be standing.

  • Force Drop — your egg is torn out of your hands on the spot.

  • Slowdown — cut to a fraction of your speed while everyone else keeps moving.

  • Drippity Gone — takes Drips straight out of your permanent balance. This one costs you something you keep.

Perks

  • Speed Boost — a lasting increase to your run and sprint speed.

  • Teleport — held until you press it, then flings you forward and drops you safely onto whatever ground is below. A gap-skipper, if you have the nerve to time it.

  • Wind Wave — the offensive one. Fire it off and it shoves every other player near you, and nothing at all happens to you. Perfect for the moment a rival is balanced on something narrow.

  • Drippity Add — a large payout straight into your permanent balance.

Session Structure

A session is three rounds across the courses you choose, and usually runs between ten and twenty minutes. Points are awarded by finishing position — 10 for first, then 6, 4 and 2 — plus a bonus for arriving with your egg, or half the total if you don't. Scores carry across all three rounds, so a disastrous round is survivable and a consistent racer beats a streaky one.

Rounds start once everyone has stepped onto the staging platform, with a five-minute limit as a hard backstop. Players choose the next course together at the holotable in the hub between rounds. Fall off the world and you're returned to the hub automatically — the run continues without you while you climb back in.

Drips and the Wardrobe

Everything you score also becomes Drips: a permanent currency that follows your account, not the session.

Spend them in the hub wardrobe, where you dress your racer across five slots — hat, shirt, pants, shoes and accessory — and recolour any piece from a palette of twelve. Your outfit saves to the cloud and travels with you into every lobby, so the other three players always know exactly who just splattered.

Since one of the traps drains Drips directly, cosmetics are funded by racing well and set back by racing carelessly.

Playing Together

Splatt is an online multiplayer game and requires at least two players — there is no single-player mode.

  • Steam multiplayer — no accounts, no servers to rent. One player hosts, the rest join.

  • Server browser — see open sessions and their status at a glance, including which ones are mid-race.

  • Private lobbies — password-protect a session for friends only, lock it once your group is complete, and remove anyone who's ruining it.

  • Drop-in between races — sessions in progress stay visible and open up again the moment a round ends.

Also Included

  • Two courses, each with its own layout and hazards.

  • Mouse sensitivity and axis inversion options, plus resolution and display settings.

  • A persistent hub area with the wardrobe, the course-voting holotable and the staging gate.
