What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Quite simply, Bomberbird is in a playable state, and has a lot of what we want in it, but at the same time, we hesitate to call it a finished game at this moment. We want to allow people to get a chance to experience it, give feedback, and help better shape Bomberbird into a better game.

We want to implement another campaign, a longer one, with more levels and more enemies. Additionally, multiplayer is far too unstable at the moment to warrant regular release. We want multiplayer to work flawlessly for our players. Furthermore, the UI could use some finetuning, being heavily reliant on a somewhat clashing art style at the moment. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to continue to improve Bomberbird over the next few years. We expect that Bomberbird will be feature complete by July 4th, 2028.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to improve the overall feel of the UI between now and the final release, sharpen our netcode for better multiplayer, polish the singleplayer experience, and redesign enemy pathing and decision making.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The singleplayer short campaign and boss rush mode are complete. The longer campaign is not quite ready. Multiplayer, while having lots of features, suffers in some areas from unintentional behavior, which can be exacerbated by the distance between players.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. It is free now and it shall be free when we're done with it.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan on taking in player feedback as well as opportunities to connect with players to work together to make Bomberbird the best it can be!”
