What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“It's rather rough around the edges, and due to my lack of marketing resources I hope to attract a small audience to give feedback and suggestions on the game to help iron that out.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Could be as little as a year, but it may be longer - until the game 'feels complete'.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Rough edges should be ironed out, regarding the story, and there's a lot of content on the to-do list, most of which I expect will eventually be implemented, including more story sections, minigames and music.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It's certainly playable and has content. However you might find a few story leads which go nowhere or things abruptly not progressing as you might expect in some places. Refer to the "About This Game" section for information on the current features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It's possible that the game will eventually become paid but this is not currently planned. The current most likely outcome regarding pricing is at some point releasing a DLC for those who wish to support my work.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Collective creativity of many bests mine; I encourage feedback and suggestions and may actively use this to determine new content for the game. The store page has a link to my discord server, which is the best way to engage with me.”

About This Game

Welcome to A Spiritual Adventure, a choice-driven game presented to you primarily in text alongside a simple GUI, with hundreds of potential choices to make and many minigames. You will play as… yourself, kind of, and you will embark on a quest to do… well, something interesting hopefully, but that’s up to you! You and your evil, fiendish and staggeringly dastardly enemy are locked in an eternal feud of sorts, and if you like you can try to kill them. Well, I think you should, you get extra points. Why would you not..?

More detailed Info:

This is a bit different to how most choice-driven games go, as it focuses on a great breadth of outcomes to actions without a clear core storyline. Was this a good idea on my part? Maybe not. But, y'know, there's something to it. This makes it a roguelike in a sense - a 'run' can be very quick, but what you do in each may differ entirely.

It currently has more than 49,000 words (rounded down, excluding some sources of text in the game) of dialogue, so that's not bad, but it's certainly not a big project! It's my first game and intended to be quite manageable for one person to make. Still, you could spend a decent amount of time exploring what is there. There are currently 11 (or up to 13 depending on your definition) minigames, too.

It's free because I don't care to spend ages figuring out good enough marketing to warrant a price tag for a hard-to-advertise game by an unknown developer like myself. I made it for fun!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The game has a single AI-generated image of deliberate low quality in it, because I wanted to have that.

It also has the "ASA-Intelligence" text generation and modification system, which is technically and pragmatically incomparable to the function of a large language model, but is technically AI. It is not trained on text from anything but the game itself, and is ran entirely locally during certain parts of gameplay.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10
    • Processor: Intel Pentinum 4415U @2.30GHz
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 610
    • Storage: 500 MB available space
    • Sound Card: I don't know any reason why any sound card would not work.
    • Additional Notes: Above are the specs of my mum's old laptop and it ran fine, so you may be able to get away with worse.
    Recommended:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10
    • Processor: Ryzen 5 2700
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: GTX 750
    • Storage: 1 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: This is a bit arbitrary, selected on the basis of being a decent bit better than the minimum. I think your hardware matters little past that point, but the experience will be smoother for whatever it is worth.
