What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is in early access because it's an initially small scale game on release that I plan to continue making free updates for post launch. The existing content isn't super 'unfinished' or anything, but will likely be improved overtime and added onto. There will probably also be bugs early on which haven't been found yet with only internal testing and will be patched quickly with hotfixes whenever reported.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It was originally planned to only be in early-access for about a month or two, but I've still been updating it at a pretty steady pace (whenever I'm not currently taking a break). The end of early access won't likely mean the end of updates, but will just be once the game has a singleplayer mode, more content like nurnies and miscellaneous stuff, and most bugs have been patched.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to eventually have several more base nurnies, a lot more fusions, a couple more modes, more polish, and have little to no bugs. Updates will not stop once it exits early access and is considered 'finished.'”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable, small in terms of content and features, less polished than it will eventually be, mild bugs and jank. As of now, there is just a PvP versus mode and a supplementary sandbox mode. The current early access state is mainly focused on multiplayer, and doesn't include any major singleplayer content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will never increase in price. It will most likely stay the exact same BASE price forever (not counting sales). I am considering MAYBE making paid expansion DLCs at some point, and if so, those could technically increase the total price of base game + expansions.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Heavily, I have collaborated with several people to add random fun little things they wanted, compiled them in the credits, etc. Many of the playable characters for example were 'created' by friends and acquaintances (telling me what to make while I do all of the hard parts). You can reach out with any feedback by messaging me on Discord, my username is Frogwood :)”

About This Game

nurny battles HD is a little indie PvP auto battler with pre-rendered 3d visuals and gimmicky characters that can be played ONLINE or locally. Every character is fully uniquely programmed so that they all function differently (not counting upgraded fusion forms of the same character), and none are redundant in niche. It's quality over quantity. Every nurny can sometimes be viable (or terrible) depending on the situation. Also, there are very few 'industry plant' synergies where things are just lazily hard coded to gain +20% attack while used with something else or whatever, synergies come naturally from the interactions between different abilities that inherently work well together.

The main versus mode has you and your opponent progressively upgrade your teams side-by-side to counter each other, so building a good team is less about just working well in a vacuum, and more about beating the specific things you've been fighting against so far. Characters can interact with allies just as much as with their enemies, making machine-like setups with emergent interactions.

It has no live input during battles, so it can be played perfectly fine if you don't have a good reaction time, have a poor internet connection that causes lag or delay in most games, or if you have a physical disability. you can even play the game online in a way with someone who doesn't own it by streaming your screen to them, going to local versus instead of the nurnynet, and just letting them tell you where to place their units for them, like 'gluey louie to E4.'

the game is mostly meant to be a fun thing to mess around in with someone else, it's PvP, not singleplayer. you can customize your characters, background and a TV broadcast in-game and your opponent can see them too, there's random round phenomena that just derail matches because i think it's funny, and the game is surprisingly active on the Discord server so there's usually someone to play with randomly if you go there for matchmaking.

by the way, you're always set to play the stable version by default, which is older but more tested. however, you can opt-in to the experimental steam branch at any time to play newer updates early, at the cost that they're not finished being tested and de-bugged. if you ever wish the game had more updates, switch to experimental if the current one isn't in a buggy state (or report those bugs if it is and then they can be fixed sooner and that update can be pushed out as stable for everyone)

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • OS: Windows 10 or 11
    • Storage: 110 MB available space
    • Additional Notes: it has run perfectly smoothly on any potato I tried it on, and it was made in GameMaker if that helps
