What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“OUTSIDE’s core mechanic is social pressure between real people.
Human behavior cannot be accurately predicted or perfected in isolation. Early Access allows me to observe how players actually interact, escalate, and enforce consequences in live sessions; and to refine clarity and pressure based on real human behavior rather than assumptions.
OUTSIDE is designed as a tightly controlled system that produces intense social outcomes, but the exact shape of those outcomes can only emerge once real players are involved.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access will last until the core social formats and rules have clearly stabilized based on live play. I expect this to take several months (2-6 months), but the exact timing depends on player behavior rather than a fixed feature checklist. The game will exit Early Access once its core experience feels fully locked in.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will reflect a more finalized and focused version of the experience, informed by how players actually use social pressure during Early Access.
Differences are expected to be primarily:
- Clearer structure and onboarding
- Refined rules and defaults
- Tighter pacing and escalation
- Removal of elements that dilute pressure
Rather than expanding scope, I aim to focus on refining the core experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“OUTSIDE is fully playable in Early Access and includes all features described on the Steam page, including real-life camera consequences and the neighbors system.

The game is stable and functional, but the exact rules, defaults, and structure may evolve as I observe real player behavior and refine how social pressure manifests in live sessions.

The neighbors feature depends on multiple friend groups starting sessions around the same time. When player counts are low, neighbors may be less frequent. In those cases, real-life camera consequence dares are used to ensure the intended level of social pressure.

Neighbors are not required to experience the game’s unique moments, but they significantly amplify them. As the playerbase grows, neighbors will become more consistently available, and the experience will naturally evolve to make neighbors a core part of most sessions, with real-life cameras becoming optional or an additional layer on top.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. OUTSIDE is offered at a lower price during Early Access to reflect its experimental nature and to encourage early participation. The price may increase once the game leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player behavior is the primary feedback signal.
I will observe how players naturally escalate, negotiate, and enforce social pressure during sessions, and adjust the experience accordingly. Community feedback will also be welcomed through discussions and reports, but changes will be driven mainly by what players actually do in live play rather than polls or feature requests.
If you're playing the game, feel free to record it and send it over, I'd love to watch it and see what can be improved based on real human behavior.
You may join the Discord or open a Steam discussion if you find any bugs or have any feedback or suggestions, I'll be sure to read everything!”

About This Game

DARES REALITY GAME SHOW with REAL NEIGHBORS and LIVE CAMERAS!
Your friends dare you. Then lie, sabotage, and bet on your failure.
Fail the dare, and you’re forced OUTSIDE — where real players next door are watching & reacting.
Failed again? A real-world dare is next. Camera / IRL Mode is optional. Phone camera supported.

  • OUTSIDE is a multiplayer dares game built entirely around real social pressure.
Inspired by classic Truth or Dare, OUTSIDE adds three core twists: game show escalation, real neighbors, and real life cameras.

  • OUTSIDE is designed to create real reactions, real tension, and moments you'll be talking about long after the session ends.
Every session ramps up as players dare, sabotage, and expose each other - creating awkward, hilarious, and unforgettable situations.

  • In most games, the danger is scripted.
In OUTSIDE, the danger is your friends — and the neighbors.

🎮 HOW IT WORKS

  • 2–4 players required per house

  • Neighbors are auto-matched with you

(When neighbors aren’t available, the game uses real-life consequence dares instead)

  • A microphone is required so the neighbors can hear you.
(In-game voice chat is required — Discord mutes you to neighbors)

📷 CAMERA / IRL MODE (OPTIONAL)

Camera mode is optional and not required to enjoy the game — but it dramatically amplifies the experience.

  • No webcam? Your phone camera is supported via third-party tools like Iriun . com

  • You can disable the camera at any time.

▶️ HOW IT PLAYS

  • Each session is an escalating 35 minutes game show that ends with a recap of the mastermind, hero, and villain.

  • Your friends dare you. Then lie, sabotage, and bet on your failure.

  • You'll spin a bottle, and 2 players will be selected: an author, and a target.
The author will choose or customize a dare to the target, along with choosing a timer.
Base dares can be literally anything, but usually happen inside the house and involve physics like throwing a ball into a cup, or making a tower of objects, etc.

  • The author is the judge of the dare, they must choose if the target succeeded or failed.
But they may lie, or change their mind, or shift and evolve the dare as it happens.
The deeper you are into the show, the more the author is incentivized to go against you.

  • If you fail a dare, you're forced OUTSIDE—to do crazy things in front of real player neighbors in-game who are watching and reacting to your every move.
And it goes both ways. The neighbors will also come knocking on your door while you play.

  • An IRL Dare is triggered if you fail an OUTSIDE neighbors dare! (only if you enabled IRL Mode & camera).

  • Felt wronged? Use the REVENGE feature to avenge the author.
Customize a special neighbors/IRL dare to make sure they regret and suffer for what they've done to you, and maybe they'll think twice before failing you again.

  • Spectators can bet and interfere. Help your friend, or sabotage them?
Spectators may also be dragged in based on what the dare is, and if there is a special modifier.

  • Truth questions are not currently built into the game, since they are made mostly irrelevant due to all the other content the game provides. But you may still use any custom dare prompt to ask a truth question if you wish.

  • Hot tip: gift this to the friend who always says "I’d never do that"

🔐 PRIVACY & SAFETY

When the camera is enabled:

  • Only the maximum 4 neighboring players can see you

  • All connections are peer-to-peer

  • No camera data is sent to any central server

Other players may stream or record gameplay, including moments where your camera is visible.

If you prefer, you can play in Private Sessions, which disable neighbors entirely. Find the private session checkbox on the matchmaking play button, available only for the host.
