What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Anomaly Island is a large-scale atmospheric horror project being developed by a single developer. Early Access allows me to release the game in stages while ensuring each biome, enemy type, system, and narrative layer receives proper testing and improvement. Because the island evolves through multiple environments and mechanics, player feedback is essential for refining pacing, combat, performance, and overall balance.

Early Access gives the community a chance to help shape the direction of the game while allowing me to continue building content at a steady, transparent pace. It ensures that each update meaningfully improves the experience rather than rushing the full release before the island is ready.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“since everything i do is while self learning and self improving i don't quit yet have an estimate on how long will the game be in early access.
my safest answer is about 6 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“i plan the full version to evolve the game from a single narrative open world exploration game with psychological horror elements into a immersive open world survival game with new and improved upgrade and resource collection system”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Anomaly Island includes the full introductory experience and the complete starting Zone, a first major biome of the game. Players can witness the peaceful starting area before delving into the anomaly where they explore the forest surrounding the starting cabin, several Points of Interest, and the hostile regions of a SPIDER ZONE.

This version features:
• First-person exploration and survival systems
• Base template enemy AI for spider creatures, with plans of adding climbing and ambush behavior
• Core combat mechanics (melee and ranged)
• Environmental storytelling and atmospheric world design
• The first POIs, including the large multi-floor wooden mansion
• Visual and audio ambience, menus, and UI systems
• Early traps, hazards, and anomaly effects
• Save/load functionality

This build represents the opening chapter of the game, with more biomes, enemies, POIs, and story content planned throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“the game and early access will be priced the same.
however i do plan on a large expansion (DLC) in the future that will likely be priced as addition to the game original price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on opening a dedicated server for supporters and players to come together discuss among themselves and with me on improvements, changes, and future updates as a community.”

About This Game

WELCOME TO THE ISLAND. NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS.

Anomaly Island is a first-person psychological horror game set on a seemingly peaceful island hiding something ancient, corrupt, and alive.
What begins as calm exploration slowly twists into a descent through shifting biomes, strange creatures, fractured realities, and an anomaly that watches your every move.

You start your journey in a quiet cabin surrounded by nature.
The wind is soft. The world feels calm.
But the longer you stay… the more the island changes.

Explore dense forests, corrupted zones, abandoned structures, and places where the laws of nature no longer apply. Face spider-like creatures, environmental dangers, and unpredictable anomalies that distort vision, sound, and space. Manage scarce resources, navigate traps, survive hostile biomes, and uncover the story behind the island’s decay.

The island is alive.
And it remembers every step you take.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

As a solo developer, I use Generative AI in limited, clearly defined ways during the development of Anomaly Island.
This includes:

Assisting in the creation of certain UI elements

Helping with coding learning and a small number of the sound effects

Generating quick previews of marketing materials via in-game screenshots lightly animated into short clips for promotional use

All AI-assisted marketing assets are explicitly labeled and further edited or composited using traditional tools, such as Adobe After Effects.

All unlabeled images, screenshots, and videos shown on this Steam page or in official trailers are directly captured from real in-engine gameplay with no generative AI manipulation.
No environments, models, animations, gameplay systems, level design, or narrative content are AI-generated.

The game includes:

Depictions of creature and insect threats (including spider-like enemies)

Extensive blood and environmental gore

Intense suspense and moments designed to provoke fear
